Specification Changes!

looking at the Match model on the VW website it seems some changes have been made. There is now a colour MFD available for £180 and the optional 17" wheels are now more expensive at £620 and in a different design (no mention of sports suspension being included despite the price hike!).

There may be other changes too and presumably this also affects other models?

What's the point of a colour MFD? The Only graphic part is the doors-open display and the Nav repeater if you have RNS310/RNS510.

Doesn't look too exciting to me and certainly not worth an extra £180 IMO. Having only recently bought a Golf Match I thought I'd compare what's available now to a couple of months back - I've just had a look at the options on the Car Configurator on the Golf website - other than the colour MFD I don't see any other obvious changes.

The 17" alloy option is a different (better IMHO) design now.
Didn't notice those. Yes I agree, nice looking wheels - I'm not a fan of overly ornate alloys plus they're a bitch to clean.
I noticed that the hatchback Golf Match 1.6 tdi bluemotion technology (105 PS) has a silver coloured 'i' in the tdi badge on theback of the car. Whereas the estate version of the same type of car and engine has a red coloured 'i'. Does anyone know the reason for that?

That's odd as mine has a red 'i' and is a hatchback - wonder if that has changed then?
Is the estate a 1.6?
To be honest I am not sure if the estate I saw was a 1.6 tdi. It was a '60' reg Golf estate with single exhaust and had a 'bluemotion technology' badge underneath the 'tdi' badge (red i)

In fact it must have been a SE since the estate is not available as Match.

The brochure shows a picture of a silver 'tdi' badge above the 'bluemotion technology' badge. The brochure I have is printed May 2010. Still available on the VW website.
Red 'I' on my BM 1.6 delivered October last. BMT badge has fell off though.(or nicked)
To think that I would have to fork out just over £20k to replace my SE Golf with the match!![:O] If I were mad enough so to do.

Red 'I' looks better IMO - I expect that's what you'll get.

I'm paying under £17k for mine - with bunch of options - how do you get to £20k+ Marvin?
5 dr, metallic paint, sunroof for starters. I used the configurator but I can always do it again. Also a 1.4TSI petrol engine. I'm sure that I'm not exagGerating. Ah, yes, also the pack that includes the eletrically folding door mirrors (an absolute essential IMHO),

You must compare like with like, you know. The Golf Match that has the nearest spec. to mine starts off at £18,315 and that is from a November price list and therefore there is more VAT to add now. Anyway I have added to this, a sunroof, metallic paint, Luxury pack and 3yr servicing and the total is in excess of £20k and so I don't know what Golf you've got for under £17k.
The Match is amazing deal over the previous SE model - I'd go for it again, no hesitation.

Its a 3-door 1.4 TSI Match - but with solid paint (white). Extras; Sports suspension/17" wheels,, luxury pack, Park Assist, Tyre press monitor.

Its under £17k as I went for white and negotiated an 11% discount and the price is frozen pre VAT price hike.

It most certainly is!
Yes, in a different life and if I were ordering now, I'd go for a 5dr match with my spec. repeated, where necessary. However, I have had enough of the Golf brand and its faceless dealers and so shall be going elsewhere in about 2 years time.
What are you considering in 2 years? I have a Golf VI and like you am debating whether to get a new one or go elsewhere.
