MikeTDI - Will take a look at the Type R aerial and PM you if I like the look of it.

What's annoying is that this happened in the private car park of the appartments where I live. You wouldn't just happen to be walking past the car and think, I know, I'll nick that aerial. Funny thing is that a new couple moved in earlier this week - with their Mk IV... Just wish I had noticed whether it had an aerial then or not...

I think they are shorter than the VX220 version I currently have fitted, can you measure one for me, the VX is about 3" shorter than std & cost ?7 from dealer

Guys, it seems pointless to modify and spend money on something that takes seconds to nick. The golf mk4 ariel is just as easy to nick as valve caps. Keep it standard and there will probably be less reason to nick it.

You could buy a new snazzy ariel, park your car and it could be gone it 30seconds. Dont get me wrong, its a shame u cant do what u want to your car, but lets face it you cant keep throwing money at it for someone elses benefit. Gits.

Anyway in which a bit of a charge could be put through the aerial so that if anyone tries to help themselves they get a little bit of a 12V shock to warn 'em off!

As for pikeys nicking it - I think it was my neighbours! Can't prove it, but it does seem like a coincidence.

Bit harsh mate. How about suspecting every Mk4 diver in your area/workplace/route to work.
