After takeing the wife shoping to tesco today my son did not want to come in and stayed in the car and had his i-pod stuffed in his ears.

After about 35min we came out and he said that someone with a trolly had pushed it and let it roll down the carpark and BANG! right into the rear off-side wing
after a big shouting match in the carpark at what B*****D had done it i had a look at the damage

rear light was smashed bumper was all trashed and so was the rear quater (right on the wheel arch)

Why do people do it?

My son said he shouted to who it was and all they said was SORRY and drove off! WHAT AN AR*E
i was so angry as it was not the sort of damage that i could fix without haveing it painted and that has really griped my sh*t as i hate it when a car has been painted as it is never the same.
I dont mind bumpers and such painted but when it comes to bodywork that is a no go for me.

I went into the store as i knew i would not have any joy with trying to trace the driver and told them what had happed
that a trolly had smashed into my car and damaged it.
The duty manager came out and tried to tell me that it was not the responsablity of TESCO as it is a private carpark!
Well that was it off went the lid again and when i asked where the bloke was that is suposed to collect the trolly?s she said QUOTE- on his lunch break!
so she took all my details and filled out a report.

i have been to VW today and have been quoted about 750 Quid to have the bumper and rear quater painted and a new rear lense, ok i dont care if it cost 2000 Quid TESCO are going to bleed for this one that you can bet on!

NOT A HAPPY MAN!

Are you serious? Almost all supermarket car parks ARE private car
parks - there will be signs everywhere saying they accept no liablility
for your vehicle while its parked there. As you are filing a fradulent claim for a trolley
hitting it when you know it was another car (and telling everyone on a
public forum as such) I think its shaky legal ground!?

Having said that, did your son not take down the reg number anyway? Surely worth attempting to trace the swine?

Did you read his post ?

No mention anywhere of a car hitting it that I can see ?

Seems a perfectly plausible explanation to me & I can't see why you should think he is trying to commit a fraud ?

Same thing happened to me 5 weeks ago but it wasn't a trolley it was a car, nasty dent just under the molding on the back.

I was parked in a disabled bay outside the front entrance and some woman had squeezed her car in between me and another car, when she reversed out she caught my car and done a runner[8o|]

Loads of people around at the time including the trolley men but all they said was it was a woman in an old ford escort. Didn't get any number plate or nothing. I went and had a word with the manager and he was no help at all, in fact he couldn't care less...[:(]

That day cost me ?450 to fix the car and ?20 shopping. I'm still very angry now.

It is always the same

if you went and nicked a trolly you would be done for theft but when one of there trolly?s does any damage they always try to worm there way out of it!

There was a case here a few months ago that involved 2 kid pushing a TESCO trolly down a gras bank and into the path of a sharan and the woman hit the trolly and it went under the front, smashed the sump off the car and pushed all the flor pan up and wrecked the car and she managed to to claim about 20000 quid for damage and other costs back
ane they tried to say that it was not there problem WRONG.

I dont know why all shoping centres dont do the same as LIDLE and make the customers insert a pound into the trolly and then there would not be half the trouble there is now with all this and not a ton of trollys dumped into the rivers and such.

Do they not have CCTV in the car park so you can try and identify who done it. Similar has happened to me and although I sympathise with you I can't see TESCO taking the blame or paying out on this one. It seems to be part & parcel of supermarket car park life even though it may not be fair.

At the end of the day the true blame lies with the ignorant siht that pushed the trolley, not with TESCO.

I agree on the one pound desposit for trolleys although this is a pain if you ain't got one.

Can't see Tesco paying out for this. It would be wrong to apportion the blame to them as it was wholey the fault of the plonker with the trolley. Slightly off topic it does amaze me the lazyness of people when it comes to taking the trolleys back!

I would ask to see any cctv footage they have. I trust you have reported this to the Police as criminal damage and they should then take the footage from the store.

I'm sorry to say but the ignorant person who caused the damage probably doesn't have any insurance or money to pay for the damage they caused and that's why they scarpered. Looks like you'll have to claim off your insurance or stump up the cash yourself.

Did you read his post ?

Ahhh! The post has been heavily edited since I read it - it used to say
'soneone hit my car and drove off', not 'someone hit my car with a
trolley' .

Sorry mate, my mistake I thought you had said another car hit it.
Having said that, because its a private car park won't Tesco just
accept no responsibility? I wouldn't hold out much hope, it's not their
fault someone else smashed a trolley into your car I'm afraid.

All the Morrisons supermarkets round my way do this now - one of the main reasons I shop there!

it is a shame and a big disapointment whe others dont care

the only damage i ever had on the car was out in Germany in 2004 when it got hit with hail damage and caused 4000 pound?s worth of damage

cashed in the claim and got about 3400 pound and then fixed it myself [:D]

that was a sad day when it happend but after the car was all fixed (without paint) it turned out to be a VERY good day and had all the money to play with LOL

I LOVE HAIL i will be back out there this year for 6 months repairing cars that will be hit in the sommer and then the leather and anni black interiour can come [:D][:D][:D]

and then an engin swap over to a 225 bhp 1.8T
let it hail PLEASE PLEASE

Dent Form,

Just had a word with the missus for you to see if there is any way around the problem (she is a Manager at our local Tesco store, car parks is one of her Departments, but currently on maternity leave).

She quotes " The trolleys are owned by Tesco but they cannot be held resonsible for a any accidents that occur with them. It's like trying to blaim McDonalds for litter, they only sell the packaging, they don't actually throw it out of the car window a mile down the road!"

She says if you can claim anything at all from Tesco you have done 'very' well.

If you get any sh*t from them PM me & I will have a word to see if there is any other way of approaching it.
