On the way back from the gym this morning, I spot a jag XKR ahead, one of the new 400hp ones.

The roads dual carriageway with traffic lights every 1/4 mile or so, and a 40 limit.

At every set the jag floored it but had the good sense to ease off when he got to 40.

At the last set of lights, where the road changes to an NSL, I pulled along side him, knowing he'd go for it. He was obviously a jag employee, who'd taken it home for the weekend, and was showing off to his mate in the passenger seat.

ASR off, 3K revs, bring clutch up gently, and see ya!

I got a cars length jump on him from the start, and by the top of second, I was 3-4 car lengths clear.

The poor guy never knew what happened.

After ruining his day, I eased off down to the speed limit, and he proceeded to pull along side. Both him and his mate were having a good old stare at the car, so I smiled at them, gave them a cheery wave, and the floored it.

I didn't see them again[:D]

Had a bit of a chuckle to myself for the rest of the journey home though.

Only problem is, its a 4-5hour drive and no way to get back lol, if you're serious we could arrange somethin?

Lots of practice.

It's actually easier with more power, as the boost comes in more progressively.

CraigGSI. Sorry. About 330hp

now thats impresive from a golf

i know these engines are good but that must have cost quite a bit to squeeze that power out of it

I've been the fastest Mk3/Mk4 the last 2 years running at the festival, and that was with 250hp.

I don't think you'll keep me away

Jags gearbox probably wasnt in sport mode, sorry but even if your golf has 300 bhp it couldnt get 4 car lengths ahead by the top of 2nd gear (guessing 58 mph) if the gearbox isnt in sport mode on a xjr/xkr then the box will change up early even if you use the kickdown, its likely it wasnt in sport mode if he was an employee.

Andy

Top end of second is high 70's.

My father has an XJR, and I agree out of sport mode thay are not as quick, but this guy was a Jag employee playing traffic light cowboy, in a factory car, with the traction controll turned off, so that he could smoke the tyres. Gearbox was in sport mode.
