I voted skoda, its a great range and despite the bad reputation, they are providing great cars lately.

Anyone seen the room in the back of a Skoda Superb? I suggest if you haven't check it out, the front seat can be fully pushed backwards and still have room to cross your legs ha.

Having owned a SEAT, I'm now going to own a Skoda.

Both are good brands, I just think Skoda have the edge on build quality, etc. Customer services (in my local area) are better with the Skoda dealers, as well. Heard nothing but praise for my local Skoda dealer.

Found myself having to ring SEAT UK on a one occasion, due to the SEAT dealer being "pig-headed".

i voted Skoda. Ive owned 3 SEATS now and i only had real big problems with the last SEAT i owned, and that was the only 1 i bought brand new! You think VW service is bad - SEAT's service makes VW look like Bentley. When people say to me SEAT the same as VW, i can only agree to a certain point. VAG must use a weaker type of glue on the interior to hold bits together on the SEAT than the rest of the VAG range! After the appaling treatment i got and faults on the last SEAT i would not go back to SEAT, which is a shame because they do build nice cars but with shoddy interiors and shockingly bad customer service (at 4 dealers ive tryed)

Both very different brands really.

Seat appeals more directly to me as they offer fantastically sporty cars for money that you couldnt dream of owning a similar VW or Audi for. Yes you dont get all the mod-cons or ultra-high build quality... but i want a quick capable car, not a barge which has a nice interior!

Seat dealerships seem crap tho... not impressed so far. Both the salesmen and the actual look of the dealerships haven't done much to get me excited about using them in the future.

I've owned 2 Skodas and a Seat

The Skodas do have the edge quaility wise, but I just wish they would be a bit more adventurous with their designs and range of cars

Imagine a 4x4 Octavia vRS with the R32 lump and a better range of colours, for ?19,995

wow this is news to me. Im thinking of getting either a new Seat Ibiza or a 2ndhand Beetle in the near future. I went to Seat in Southgate a few weeks ago and the guy there was really helpful but I guess its down to him as he was chilled out, very unsalesman like. Might have to think about it carefully now. The interior quality isnt bad in them to be honest, just a bit more hollow. The Skoda interiors are nicer imo, but like Mark said, its about time they started getting a bit more adventerous in terms of design. When the hell are they going to replace the aging Felicia?

Err... about 5 years ago. If you mean the Fabia then it's getting a bit of a tidy up around now. Don't forget it's based on the current Polo, for some reason Skoda have used new VAG platforms before VW themselves ie the Fabia came out before the Polo.

Re: the design and range thing. Over on the darkside we're wondering if they'll even be a new Octavia RS and if there is one which engine it will get. Rumours are rife but I go a bit cold and clammy when people start talking about 'fast diesels' [:(] Fingers crossed for the 2.0 FSI turbo. Either way you're going to have to pry the keys from my cold, dead hands before I get rid of my current Octavia [^]

(No offence intended to the oil burners present re: my above comments.)

Which, bare in mind the whole range of the cars...

Sorry! Will probably be slated for this but I just wouldn't buy a Skoda, for no other reason than the badge...and I'm not even a badge snob (generally), yes, shallow of me I know, maybe its cos I'm old enough to remember how crap they used to be. Although I'd have one over a Yugo (do they still exist?)

Sell a kidney, buy a decent motor!!!....abuse me! I don't care![B)]

That's how they iron out the problems..... real road testing on a brand where people expect some sort of problem prior to ironing out the problems for the 'better' brand.

In theory at least..

.. and i'd go for Skoada at the mo, cos some of SEAT's new stuff looks a bit french and naff to me..

Ah, we're used to it. lol.

While I'm here, as you know I own a Skoda and I've got a bit of a technical query. Can anyone tell me why Skoda fit a heated rear window?

First with the correct answer wins a prize [^]
