Has anyone tried or got or has thought about getting one of diesel geeks panzer plates or evouloutions thor plates. Both metal and protect your naughty parts from anything hard!!

My standard plastic one took a beating this winter with the snow and ice and theres now probably about half of it left under the car and thought it may be worth the upgrade to a metal skid pan. Getting a complete replacment from VW cost roughlt £180 and one of these metal ones costs $275 which is about £177. Only problem is you gotta pay the shipping to get one over form the USA. Or is there an English supplier that I've not heard of yet??

There are a few people on here with the Diesel Geeks plates. It's an expensive option, but if you've got the money and it's important to you, then do it. From what I gather, it's a good bit of kit.

I ordered the VW OE one. Took my car in for fitting, and was told it was a 30 minute job. To cut a long story short, it took them 3 hours to realise that they hadn't fit one before, and tried to charge me a few hundred quid for fitting. I told them to take it off again and not charge me a penny, and if they were lucky I wouldn't charge them for my wasted time.

Moral of the story: if you order from VW, make sure they know what they're fitting. It doesn't attach the same way as the plastic one. Obviously...
