I ordered my new GTI on the 11th Jan and on Saturday I picked here up. Photos if you are interested can be found here

So how does she compare to my old MKIV (that also went on Saturday). Well they are different beasts. I still have not opened up the MKV yet to see what it can really do, but it is a lot smoother through the range and pulls for a lot longer with much less turbo lag than my 220bhp MKIV. The overall quality of the car is setting new targets for other manufacturers (then again for 23k it should), and I only have one rattle.

Also, the car is the last VW to be sold by Hollis Motors ( in Kent) who after 40 years of selling VW's have had to stop.

Anyway, enough showing off, I am out to put some miles on. [:D]

Nice one milkfloat.  I really didn't like the look of the mkv gti when i drove one over christmas but it's starting to grow on me now and that one looks brilliant.  The picture with yours and Wish's car is class.  Have fun driving her.

I bought my MkV GTI from Hollis Motors and was very saddened to hear
that they won't be selling VWs anymore. They've been in Dover since
biblical times and I was really impressed with the service I got when
buying mine. Seems that VW are asking a lot of these small dealers and
making it impractical for them to continue meeting the rules that VW
set down.

Your car looks fantastic by the way!

Davros,

That must mean your car is either Red (EX Demo) or Blue ?

Hollis Motors have been VW dealers for 40 yrs, Milkfloats was the last ever new VW to leave the forecourt. Simon the salesman was vurtualy in tears when Milkfloat drove it way......

A very sad day for the VW network.

Yes, mine is the Graphite Blue one that they had in the showroom. I
loved the look of the red demo car but decided it was a bit too flash
looking for a company car. Gave it a real good clean and polish this afternoon and still think I made the right choice.

Simon was very good, let us take the red one out twice and was very
honest and completely free of bull. Very refreshing to find a salesman
like that. I'm guessing you work at Hollis Motors then Wish?

No I dont work for Hollis [:$]

I had the GTI Demo for the day and put a crack in the windscreen, it was brand new with delivery mileage. I was so imbarrised taking the car back.

But he was fine about it.....

That is a terrible state of affairs. Are Hollis going to change to a different manufacturer ? I wish i'd tired Hollis before they shut down ! [:(] I might send VW UK an email to ask why they have gone and see what they say.

The reason why Hollis shut is that they didn't participate in the Volkswagen Quality Management Audits, must add on their own choice, so hence got automatically terminated as a dealer by VW UK.
