I have seatbelt warning

Also on my old golf (same car, but was replaced with current car due to loads of problems) had the washer bottle one.

not used enough screen wash to see if this one has it tho.

AFAIK u need to have the winterpack or xenons with headlight washers to have the low screen wash warning

Also all golfs apart from the very early ones have the seatbelt warning... do you have a outside temp in your display.. if u have this u should have seatbelt warning.. if u dont have the temp display u wont have the seatbelt warning

i have outside temp display, water bottle low warning, no seatbelt ping and a very early mk5.

Perhaps the first models, the temp disp was part of the winter pack which i have?

The water bottle reminder is defo part of the winter pack(heated seats&washer nozzles)

nope,i think the temp display is linked to having the onboard computer not the winter pack.I have the temp display but NOT the washer bottle, but you might be right, that sounds like its an option with the winter pack.

however, that doesnt explain why i dont get the seat belt warning

btw,whats a highline computer?

Thats really wierd - as I was thinking the same thing today as I drove around a car park without my seatbelt expecting to hear some annoying sound

Anyway, I'm gonna throw a spanner in the works - I have a 54 plate GT TDI - without the winter pack BUT I have outside temp guage but I do NOT have seatbelt warning - should I have ???

You are not missing much - believe me if I could get rid of the no seat belt warning I'd do it - it even beeps if the passenger doesnt wear there belt. Dont get me wrong I believe in seat belts, but it gets very annoying very quicky when you just turn on the engine and it bings and bings...[}:)]

no you dont hav3e to have the winter pack etc

All i mean is that vw added the seatbelt chime at a later date.. and not at launch...they also added the temp display to the cars at the same time.

All i was meaning if you didnt have the temp display you wouldnt have the seatbelt chime as it was all added at the same time

Also you wont get the washer fuid warning unless you either spec

Xenons (have the washer jets)

or the winter pack (also includes the washer jets on the lights)

The books for the cars are not specific to each car... they have all the stuff for all the options in the one owners book

It's not even as simple as that as early cars with no chime had the temp display if they had the multi-function computer.

All early cars (pre-chime) did not have a locking glovebox though [^]

I think builds after May. My car delivered mid-June had them. The dealer at the time said it was a new thing as he hadn't seen the temp display or locking glove-box before.

Other things that changed were the headlights are now all chrome-looking on the inside rather than grey and you get a chrome ring under the gearknob.

If you've just got your car I would be onto the dealer and asking for something to make up for you being sold a not so new, new car!

Although it is unlikely to make any difference to trade in value etc as it will still be registered as new at whatever time. Would take an anorak to spot the differences if you were selling privately.

I bought mine used before Christmas - and it is the MkV ("ii") with the locking glove box, ping and temp display.

(registered in June 04)

I hunted the revised model down specifically as who knows, some other bits and pieces might have been improved that you can't see.

As Kenl says, you have been sold an outdated model!

Hopefully I wasn't as blunt as that [:O][B)][:I]

But that's the kind of phraseology Supermario Dave should be using when he speaks to his dealer, as that is what the dealer has sold him
