But upon doing my regular check up on my motor I came across this error.

Address 56

Controller: 3B0 035 186 D

Component: Radio BNO 0204

Coding: 00400

Shop #: WSC 00000

1 Fault Found:

Any idea?s, O yes It will not reset..[:O]

Chief, youre on the right track, apparently the satnavs, and maybe the standard stereo,s are coded according to what car theyre fitted to, something to do with adjusting the sound to suit the acoustics of the car that youre in, ie a golf will have certain frequencies lowered or boosted due to the cabin size, and it will have a different set of acoustic settings if the satnav was fitted in a passat for instance, i did have a list of the codes that relate to a golf, bora 2 door, 4 door, yada, yada !!!, i,ll hunt around or ask someone if they have still have it, when i get it i,ll post up the codes, it could be as you say also that the satnav was maybe linked to a dsp amp as well, so will need a code to tell it that it has to play through 4 speakers, not through an external amp, the sound is coming out `normally` though isnt it?

I'm currently in contact with Simon from bodycarstyling about getting hold of an MFD(D) for my Bora,

As i have oem DSP fitted, will i have any sound/fitment problems if the unit i get is previously out of a non DSP car...?

The whole will it/won't it work issue where the oem DSP is concerned it getting to be a bit of a nightmare tbh [:(]

Any of you fellas know whether it will fit/work ok, not bothered about retaining DSP functionality, just want to get navved-up with the minimum of hassle and could do with any info before i spend my hard earned with Simon on Monday

Cheers guys... [:D]

Ive fitted 2 version D's - one to my 2003 Passat, and one to a 2003 Golf 4mo. In the Passat, it sounds fantastic - a real improvement over the old Sony Gamma. In the 4mo it doesn't. Is this the answer? Is the unit incorrectly coded?

Please post the answer! I will bookmark this [:)]

Here are settings

A= Country 0= Europe 1= Non Europe

B= Sound Matching 1 = Golf

C= No of speakers 2= 2 and 4= 4 (most golfs are 4)

D= Additional Amplifiers 0 + 1 seem to be none 2 + 3 are for DSP etc

E= Additional equipment

1= No CD Changer or FIS

2= CD Changer (6 disk or single or boot mount)

5= FIS display (no CD)

7= CD and FIS

01402

or this

01412

would probably be your soft coding?

Do you check this and change it if it is wrong by using Vag Com?

ok. I've got VAGCOM (share version) on my laptop and I had:

software coding was 00002

Workshop code 00000

I've changed the software coding to 01402, then read the controller for faults (there was one saying something about the traffic module was missing) cleared faults, re read - no faults found.

Checked software coding - yes 04102 is there

closed controller and it seems to still work.

Have I coded it correctly for my golf[?]

Thanks for any help guys.
