Hendy, if i were you, i would get some other toy ofr now, until they get the n.irish mapping sorted out, at the mo all you get is belfast.

tbh i grew up in n.i. and you dont really need satnav. @ ?700ish its a bloody expensive way to make your dash look a bit better imho

I was reading on VWVortex that from 2006, the navigation will be switching to a DVD based system rather than the CD-ROM which it is now. Might be worth waiting until they become available since we're not far from 2005 now.

Hello,

here in Spain there is a company which provided the MFD2 with a great price. The web is www.audimb.com. The units provided are ALL legal.

Just had a look here, and i dont know any spanish but it was 1080 euro. Add in postage etc and its gonna be ?650-700

Available on ebay from a uk seller at ?750

That was just the starting bid though. What did it go for in the end?

Never gets any bids, always has one listed and he will end the auction if he gets the ?750 bid

I've emailed this guy, and he always replies quickly. I was considering buying one but at ?750 plus ?25ish for the antenna its gonna be dear. Instead i bought a tomtom go, so the mrs can use it in her car too.

[/gets back to original point]

Hes in SE London (Wimbledon i think) and is ok with arranging a collection of the units. Have to say this was the option i would take if buying off him.

(The journey to London would take the total cost for me to ?800)

I think the PDA/Sat Nav solution is a great alternive to a built in satnav system. It's portable and pretty cheap. I've been considering the Mio 168 PDA which has GPS built in. The software to use is ALK Co-Pilot Live which is rated as the best. It also has voice regonistion, it warns you of speed cameras also!

Best of all, the whole soltion costs around ?370.
