Yeah mate u can get a deitz adapter that allows DVD etc to be connected, i also think there is a TV tuner but not sure on that one, A denison ICE link is what you need for the ipod connection.(i think it works with no probs, there will also be otherways of connecting your pod to the car just i dont know of them.

If u buy from satnav systems it comes with the GPS and CD and thats all u need, just take out old system, follow guides from foxy etc in the how to section on how to take the system out, once its out just unplug the old stereo plug in the new one and find somewhere to place the gps antenna (this is the hardest bit as it can just sit on the dash with no probs, but dosnt look that great imo, otherplaces that have been used are behind the clocks, underneath the curtain airbag cover and sat on the air vent pipes (the latter one dosnt have much signal tho i think)

Another vote for Satnavsystems here.[H]

A bit of advice tho, the physical installation is pretty straight forward but spend the extra and get one of their recommended installers to do the work, its not cheap but well worth it for the full one year warranty on the goods. I had a fault with what I was convinced was the unit they supplied to me, Tom sent out a replacement [at his expense I might add] and after a few hours it was discovered that my brand new GT FSi was actually at fault. Shorting speaker terminal on front left door midrange driver.

If you are nearer Leeds than London again I cannot fault Nick Sutton as their recommended installer in the North of England, totally professional and pleasant bloke who will tell you everything you will ever need to know about the MFD2 and its addons, not to mention the absolute best location for your GPS receiver and a healthy stock of all the required parts at his disposal.

Unfortunately this level of service means the option of some impulse buys at Nicks place of work[:O]

Dear All,

thanks for the advice I have sent an email to satnavsystems along the following lines...

"Supply Quote for the following...
1 x MFD2 - RNS DVD Sat Nav System ?849 with TMC DVD ????
1 x TMC Tuner - for traffic information ?129
1 x VW TV Tuner - to watch tv when at standstill ?199
1 x Dietz 1230 - to add AV device in future - mainly for ipod ?50
plus the various aerials, cables, tools and instructions to remove the
existing CD500 system install this ????

I hope i've got the above correct and that they're all compatible!

I would also like a seperate price for installation in Bromley Kent"

I'll keep you all in the loop of the purchase and installation as it happens. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

I think satnavsystems only do the older CD Based Nav, thats what i have

U also dont need a TMC tuner, the MFD2 has it built in, just need a TMC enabled CD/DVD

And finally i am not sure if the VW tuner will work the new MFD2s or not as I think its for the old systems in the MK4

ref the tv tuner, I've heard from a good source [ wow inadvertant quality pun there !!] that reception can be a bit hit and miss, also a fellow member has tried unsuccesfully to get a widescreen signal on his mfd2 [dvd input IIRC], so be wary that for the amount you are about to spend you may not get everything you expect performance wise.

satnavsystems should be able to fully clue you up on your choices, but worth fielding the above questions to them just in case

best of luck and keep us all informed

p.s. your dealer will also most likely charge you ?200 for the nav cd once they've charged you for the unit and install [:-*]

[<)] good move, I installed my Dension yesterday and its really worth it over a cd changer, if you already own the iPod do yourself a favour and create 5 playlists, otherwise you will end up flicking thru over hundreds of tracks to find the album you might be looking for, particularly if you intend tucking the iPod away in the glovebox like me.

Other option is to take iPod out of dock, play the album/track you want then plug it back in, unfortunately I'm off with the flu today so cant go out to enjoy, so sitting here creating playlists [:)]

Even more excited now...

Tom from S.N.S is coming to fit the MFD2RNS Sat Nav and a cable which
will allow me to use the Aux input on the system for my iPOD, portable
DVD player, Digital Camera, Laptop etc... on 20/09 as planned. Very
nice guy and he gave great advice. He also told me about a dual digital
freeview tuner box, which he has installed in his car. He highly
recommends this unit and reckons you can recieve the 40 digital
freeview channels up to 80mph. The only down side is this unit is
currently retailing at around ?800!!!! [:^)] Although he did say that
this unit will reduce in price over the next couple of months. I can
see a TV install style Xmas present this year??!!

I will let you know who the install goes and take some photos of the installation - completion

Dear all,

the install wentvery i'll upload some photos ASAP but have a few questions which i hope you can help me with...

1. Where can i get a TMC enabled CDRom from as the one supplied by SatNav Systems is a UK non TMC version (on CDR)

2. I have a Dietz multimedia converter installed so i can view a
composite video and stereo audio signal on the MFD2 via the AUX switch
on the unit i currently have a PS2 pluggind in to the yellow/red/white
connectors on the multimedia box. Can someone tell me how I stop the
unit switching off the video display over 10 mph so my passengers can
conitnue to watch DVDs as we drive.

3. The PS2 is powered by a BigCatTech pro power supply - i think the
guys from satnav systems connected this to CDChanger supply when
installing - the problem i'm having is that the power supply turns off
the PS2 randomly when using games but doesn't do this when watching
movies - any ideas?

thank for any advice in advance.

think i've found the answer to question 3...

the instructions for the power supply state...

Red - 12V Input

5Amps

Connect to 12V supply e.g. 12V accessory

supply or 12V permanent supply - make

sure the supply has at least of free

capacity and is fused.

I don't think the current connection supplies this..
