My options are to get 3dr obviously again, but either a 130PD or the 150PD.

Once revo'd they go to 180bhp or 190bhp from the 150PD model.

So what would you get? If money was an issue as a 130 is going to be cheaper I would guess?

Im thinking about the 130, its a lower insurance group and similar figures for perfomance?

Much different to start with? bigger turbo is it? how do they achive the additional 20bhp to start with.

Bigger Turbo, FMIC, ECU trickery

The compression ration is different too, 130 = 19.0:1, 150 = 18.0:1

BTW who's Revo ? [:D]

I'd go with the 150 for the extra spec you get. Once you start remapping the insurance doesn't really matter as the percentage gain on the 130 is higher than the 150 so you may find very similar quotes.

PD150's are based on 1.8T equipment level.

Where as the PD130 is based on the 2.0 8v GTI.

PD150's are nicer to drive, better handling and nicer overall...plus I imagine it can be tuned more.

drive a 130 and 150 back to back, some people prefer the 130 as it feels a little more urgent...no idea how this extends to them being revo'd though

Having owned both (including untuned for a few days each[:I]), I am not one of those people. Both nice cars but the 150 is a superior motor.

I was recently looking to buy and drove several 130's and 150's conclusion; much preffered the urgency of the 130 you only notice the extra power of the 150 when driving hard, so i actually chose the 130 over the 150. (plus i prefer tdi to gti badge lol)

The PD150 should have a TDI badge on anyway...

I would go for the 150.

Having settled for a 130 and spent money upgrading things you get as standard on the 150 e.g.

- Wood trim

- Sports Suspension

- Uprated front brakes (312mm insead of the rubish 288mm)

- 3rd rear head rest

- Nicer wheels as standard (although my 130 came with 17 Tocatta's)

- Climate as standard from 2001 onwards(130 only had climate as standard from 2002-2003)I have manual aircon.

I would then probably Jabba the little begger !![:D]

Having part ex'ed my 51 plate 130 for a 53 plate 12,000 ml 150 pd. The 130 seemed to have more urgency as has been said, but the 150 pulls more like a non turbo petrol engine.

It def pulls longer and harder than the 130 but with less of the big shove in the back when the boost comes on.

cheers.

The displacement of the front mount IC in the 150 contributes to a slight lag when pushing the loud pedal (feels less urgent).

I notice this when driving our passat, which seems to have a crisper throttle response.

The extra 20PS is probably down to the lower compression ratio (to run higher boost) and FMIC.

The 150 turbo is also stronger and more than capable of pushing 200bhp reliably. It has a titanium compressor wheel and (allegedly) 360 degree thrust bearings.

if found if u wanna go messing with it ..the 150 is a better bet..its mechanically put together stronger to take the punishment....and u remap it and as jace and a few other will tell u the pd150 spools up and just shifts yet is very capable of amazing fuel economy figures to..to add further and i can honestly say here ....most pd150's never had 150bhp as standard and the 0-60 times etc are out to say the least and are very conservative....

Mine did. I also know of a 130pd that measured 128bhp on it's run prior to getting remapped.

It all depends on what dyno the car is tested on. If anything you may have a few extra hp, but not 10 or 20bhp as some would believe.
