Just get it from a VW dealer (parts) - they stock their quantum oils, and you can be sure its exactly the right spec for the car - while your at it get the oem oil filter, and new sump plug washer too.

Failing that get a good fully synthetic 5w30 oil that meats vw spec (mobil 1 long life stuff shd be good). Some members use 5w40 on higher milage cars like yours but given the cold weather I would stick with the thinner 5w30 (or 0w30 even)

hth

ps if you do a forum search on this im sure plenty of threads would come up...

Any Oil with the VW 504.00 rating on the label is recommended by VW.

There are dozens of oils that have that rating, the choice is yours really.

Personally I buy my oil from VW TPS Leicester dealer.

£29 for 5litres of VW Quantum fully Synthetic (VW 504) oil.

Or u can try halfords, Castrol edge 5w-30 (VW 504) £36 4litres (currently on sale)

Halfords also do Mobil1 5w-30 esp (VW 504) £50/5litres (Sometimes on sale for £40)

Or try buying from Opie Oils - they have forum member discounts when you sign up.
