Now I have been debating over posting this but it may just bring home to some of us...including me, over the issues concerning speeding.

I am not going to mention names etc but all that I can say is that the young man in the Escort was buried yesterday. The woman in the 4wd is still in hospital with leg injuries and a broken arm.

The 4wd may look as if it is coming out of a junction but it was not.

Edit :- Moderator. If you think this is over the top and want to delete this post feel free.

WOW that is shocking!!! [:O]

where i live there was a spate of scooby doo?s and EVO?S getting put up hedges and poles and into other car?s and there has been about 5-8 VERY SERIOUS RTA?S and they just will not learn.

You stick a young kid in a big car and he is going to speed!!!!

And even if you may think it sounds harsh but if he was nailing that car and lost it, Then it was better that he did not kill anyone else.

WE ALL do it at some time in our driving lives and most still do and it could be that we are just lucky to keep getting away with it BUT one day it will be you

and there is nothing you can do about it if you dont want to.

There was a large smash near to me recently and as soon as heard the road and time i knew who it was..... The same guy that I used to see on my commute when i took the car to work ( glad i didn't this as i would have been at around the accident spot) .He would overtake everyone ( twisty B-roads) regardless of whether it was on a blind crest, bends, on coming traffic Etc. This one day in question he decided to overtake on a bend but he met an articulated lorry coming the other way . Guess who lost !.

Then in the local paper ran a story for his family( who i do feel sorry for as the have lost a Son,Husband,Farther,Friend) saying what a good natured guy he was and he would do anything for anyone Etc. But he still drove his car ( Fiesta rs turbo) like a plank...

It is these sort of stories that wake you up and realise how venerable you really are inside that 'Tin box'

Bloody hell you have to wonder what speed the Escort was doing to make it get squashed like that!

And I bet that woman in the Merc was glad she was in a "environmentally unfriendly" 4x4 cos anything else she'd probably be dead too.

WTF!!!!!! i can't see a big car in the picture above, mate!!!! a ford escort?!?!?!?! there are more youngsters driving escorts around than scoobs, or evo's! literally any car will do over 80mph.stick 2 cars on a road, in opposite directions at 60mph,and see what mess you get when they hit one another!!!! i personally think it very bad taste to have this picture up on here!!!!if the guy was speeding, or not, this is a sick picture. i feel for the woman in the 4x4, of course, but hey, how many guys on here have private track speeds to boast about? yes, i understand the need to be able to discuss things on this forum, but to me, this is sick! someone died in that car, and someone sees fit to post a piccie up of the car?what if a relative of the person(s) concerned saw this? i personally think that this is in very bad taste.

Its easy to think you are invincable when your inside your tin box, especially when you get your driving head on, and pictures like the ones above still shock to see what accually happens in a higher speed smash with another motor.

Sure, I'm sorry the fella died, perhaps he was just doing what we all do; enjoying a bit of a drive. How may times have we overdone it a little and thought you were lucky it didn't go wrong. Sometimes it does....

SORRY that was not related to the pic above but a genral comment

BUT at the end of the day pics like this are used in allsorts of advertiseing by POLICE and the likes to try and hit it home that SPEED KILLS!!

and as you have said YES IT IS SICK! but what does it have to take for others to realise the fact of the matter

WE ALL SPEED and where i live the roads are just not ent to be used a bloody raly track for some donky in a scooby or evo and come to mention it ANY CAR!!!!!

the inpact in the photo was not at 30mph and probabbly not even 50mph

i had to drag a sorry ass sensless git out of his car after he hit a car head on so i know what it looks like to see the inside of a car that has been that has been covered in alsorst of body fluids.

NO IT IS NOT A NICT THOUGHT OR SIGHT!!!

I don't think it's in bad taste due to the context its being used. Its not being used to make a specific example of the unfortunate driver(s) but as a demonstration to all us car enthusiasts who discuss high speeds and horsepower etc that sometimes we need to take a reality check on the possibilities.

Posting the pictures sick, may be but they have only been in the local press just a few days ago....BOTH of them. Ok they might not have been in colour but they were in the press for all to see.

The young boy that died was 18. My daughter is 18 and she passed her test just a few months ago. As a parent I worry about what might happen as I'm sure you would do. Publishing photos like this I think help remind people of the consequences of their actions.

Hey Wow

That is some accident

I believe that everyone should be aware of things like this , it may make everyone think twice before they go overtaking on blind bends just like what Bike_Boy has explained

Everyone has a loved one that it would effect , mother , child , loved one , even friends

They are the ones that you feel for , when a young lad or lasss decides they are invincible and that they are the worlds best driver

Shame........

i totally disagree with you mate! if you want an idea of what mess you get from a speed related incident, there are research sites into this WITHOUT any people being injured!you know! the TRRL, department of transport, emcap,(i think i got the names right) and other car safety organisations? they don't post up pictures of cars that people have died in??? last night i passed an accident on the A12 where some idiot had run into a truck warning that men were dropping cones out of a truck further up the road in the outside lane! the car was totalled and i hope the person,or persons inside survived without too much pain, but christ did they hit it.i could have taken photos too,but hey! i'm not sick! i also understand the implications of speeding and the result if you do take risks!if you don't understand how vulnerable you are when driving fast, you shouldn't be in the car in the first place!!!

I don't see a problem with the pictures. The press print many pictures of fatal car crashes every day. It was'nt too long ago that there was a safety campaign on tv showing very graphic footage of car accidents to remind people of the dangers of drink driving etc.

hi,

i passed my driving test last year (feb 06). before my test, the local driving test centre has a presentation every mondays and all the driving instructors students attend it. they show you pictures like these and tell you the dangers of speeding. im not sure if it has any affect on people but it did make me slow down a lot.

Speed limit on that road.......?

If its 60, speed probably may well have had nothing to do with it, head on 120mph close speed, all legal........would make a bigger mess than that.

we maybe all assume escort driver was at fault here........maybe right...........but maybe it was big dozy woman in a big 4x4, who drives it cos she has crashed everything else she's had and needs some metal around her..........truth is we just dont know.. ?

If we can learn anything from this, its whatever comes at you on the road, cars in the middel of the road, animals, anything, just DO WHATEVER YOU CAN to avoid a head on colision, driver to driver.......you just cannot win!!go off the orad thought the hedge, take you chance in the bushes, glancing blow fornt to rear, rear to rear, anything but head on........prety much curtains if you hit anything head to head, even bth doin 30...!!

Lets be careful out there....

Looking at the picture of the Escort the 4x4 can be seen as a speck in the distance so it must have been one big impact....[:S]

There's been loads of fatals round here recently - it's the time of year for it [:(]

I require no reminder of what a car looks like after a car accident no matter the speed. If you read through all the posts relating to this thread its not to marvel at a Ford Escort that has been trashed but to make the justified point that we are not invinceble, and we should all take a moment to see how bad things can easily get and what the consequences can be.

I am quite aware of how vunerable you are in a car but it serves as a reminder to us all.

It has been mentioned above that its a regretable incident that a young lad has lost his life so no disrespect has been impled by anyone-quite the opposite in fact.

I think using the word "sick" is innapropriate when reflecting on what has happened here
