Hi, as some of you may know, I have recently got my replacement Anni alloys and the photos are here to view:

Photo's of the new Anniversary wheels clicky

My question is, does anyone know what type of sprays are available to make them to the same mirror finish as the original wheels? Have just been down the Halfords and they reckon that a spray coat of laquer will do the job and make them a bit brighter. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

The only option is chrome paint - and we know how bling that can look [N]

There are other colors like GaryM's, which is like a gun metal type finish - but you will always tell the difference between a painted finish and polished metal.

If there was an option to refinish the RC's like they came from BBS I think they (BBS/VW) would have done it by now.

The pics aren't too clear, but the new finish just looks like the finish they have on Regular BBS RC's?

Laquering them would give an added depth to the colour, making them
look slightly more metal, but it won't replicate the original
Anni look. I dont think anything can to be honest

Agreed with you on laquering the wheels - even VW Chiswick told me that too yesterday when I called them. However, don't you think a chrome spray might bring it back closer to the original look? [:S]

Hi Tabs - wouldn't chrome paint restore the look of refurbed wheels and make them look original again? That can't be bling.....?

Chrome paint = [+o(] (IMO!)

You see all those american SUV's and Chrysler PT Cruisers with that horrible finish on their wheels? Thats chrome paint....

Hi Alex - lovely wheels. Did you have this shadow chrome shade sprayed on? If you did, did you do it yourself (want to know how difficult it is) or was it done by someone more used to doing stuff like that? And where would I be able to pick this shade up from? I must say I agree with you on the finish - it is fairly close to the finish on my first set of Anni wheels.

Ahhhh - ok! I got ya! I never thought a chrome paint can replicate a mirror finish like the type you see on SUV's, PT's etc. Surely you are mistaken?

Some of that is chrome paint - they had to change the spec of the wheels due to corrosion so used Chrome paint instead.

There's actually two types of paint on your wheels thats been used to create the shadow effect. Chrome / metalic paint is the base then a quick lick of black is added to the spokes and recesses to create the shadow effect.

Some wheel refurbishers offer this finish - it can look quite effective, as we can see on your wheels Alex [Y]

As discussed by PM a few days ago Sem, this company is on my doorstep. I fully intended to visit them this afternoon but it didn't work out (major jam on M25) but I will call in within a few days and discuss our predicament with a few to a Group Buy of sorts if they can offer a solution. Will report back soonest.

Nice one James, i'm also going to visit a local refurbisher to me and take a look at some of their samples. They will also have the opportunity to inspect the finish on my current Anni RC's which will be replaced next Wednesday with the new painted ones [:'(]
