I was emailed this URL. It makes for some pretty interesting lap times and speeds of 175 various cars through the Oschersleben Circuit, (Magdeburg) Germany:

Track Length: 2.279 miles

It is a good compilation of cars, varying from cheap city cars to thoroughbred sports cars. The R32 laps a faster time than an M3, what a shocker![:O]

No surprise, however that Porsche rein most of the top positions...

Don?t forget to scroll through all pages (1-4), certainly makes for interesting reading?. Here?s another one: The Fungus ST170 does the lap quicker than an SLK 32 AMG?![8]

Yes, I noticed that too! Odd, because the SMG M3 is quicker than a 6MT M3. However, the opposite applies with the DSG R32, with it being slower around the track!(?)

Would love to get behind the wheel of that BiTurbo R32 though!

some things just dont seem right an audi rs2 slower than an r32 you gotta be kidding that thing flys and has 300 ++ bhp ???

I know the circuit and it is not a slow circuit either so a lack of power or to much weight would show heavily ????

Exactly. Its likely that its the owner/driver combo thats letting things down. The list is probably compiled using data from private owners who have run their cars around the ring. So it could be some old squid driving the Merc and a Boy racer gunning it in the ST.

Very valid points! However, from a translation it appears to be times from the magazine test driver(s) themselve(s) over a period of 3 years. Surely they would have ensured track conditions were identical and possibly the same driver was behind the wheel.... I guess its the same as the Stig behind the wheel in one series in TopGear and another Stig in the next series?

Sammy - What do you make of the Imprezza times? [;)]

"Imprezza times"

Well the Impreza times were better than the Goolf R32............bearing in mind these are the newer, heavier cars not bad. But I don't want to get into all that again! We all know the Goolf is the better car.

Please let's not start this again- the figures we see here seem to show that the Impreza is faster. Yesterday there was some heated action a thread re: TDI V Impreza all I have to say is that if a car has more power and it's lighter it tends to be faster. Yes or no?

Remember in terms of the jap plastic fantastic there are as many versions as there are Golfs.

In any case the R32 is a better car as I keep saying.

The least you can do is learn how to spell the name of the car you are trying to put the boot into- FYI the correct spelling is "Impreza", I'll expect everyone to get it right from now on, you have no excuse!

Yes- they are driven by chavs and people with no taste.

Which "impreza" are you talking about that is faster....not the WRX which was around 22k a few years ago so is a good comparison for the R32

In my experience, usually people with very little in the way of driving skill either.

my mate is different, he is a pilot like me, has owned golf mk2s and ver nice ones at that, he now owns a scuby as well and he is one of the only people i will feel happy with if they are driving fast.[^]

Compare it to whatever Impreza you prefer. The only one that's slower than an R32 is a WRX 'bugeye' the disgustingly ugly, heavy one nobody wants.

On this thread the only R32 which was faster than the Imprezas was the twin turbo R32, which sounds like an awesome beast.

I'm not going to get into all this again it's counter productive. All I have to say is that a lighter car with a better power weight ratio tends to be quicker, doesn't make it a better car but those criteria usually lead to faster acceleration.
