Go to www.dell.co.uk

Small business > Desktops

Enter ecode

305-X08172

Click on customise and add the monitor that says SUBTRACT ?350

Its the 17" CRT 3 from bottom

Update price, ?120 something quid, ?209 inclusive of VAT and Del....oh, and you also get a free Laser printer!!

I ordered mine! Whether they honour it or not is another matter, and yes, I paid ?209

If the monitors do not say 'subtract' next to them, then it's been fixed. Remember, this is for small business only. If it's for a home user, they will have a clause to wriggle out, which we dont really need.

If they do actually honour this (rather than someone going to the national papers as loads of people are ordering these!) the bay will be absolutely flooded!

I heard that people were ordering the basic dimension system with a 15" CRT monitor for ?51 earlier, incl VAT and Del!!

This bit of the order confirmation says it all

We have received your order.
We will send you a written Order Confirmation to confirm acceptance of your order or will contact you if there is a problem with your order. The Order Confirmation will contain your Order Number and the final purchase amount pending any charges resulting from the verification of the online pricing of your order. Please note that Dell will not be responsible for typographical, pricing or other errors and reserves the right to cancel any orders based on such errors.

They're going to cancel them I bet.

Where are people getting this confirmation from? I printed out a confirmation, cant remember seeing that, but I don't have any e-mails or anything

Thing is, theres nothing in the T&C's about it, only when you have placed your order? Thats going back on their own T&C's. I won't fight it if they do reject it, but a lot of people will I reckon.

Will be another one of those Argos 40p TV's...think they were 40p, or were they ?4?! I remember that being all over the news.

There will be a lot of bad publicity for dell if they do pull it! Someone will be in a meeting right now I reckon as they have stopped the other 2 errors that I knew about.

There is this in the T&C's:

Order Confirmation formal acknowledgement of Product ordered by you, sent by Dell.
Price stated in Order Confirmation.

And....

  1. Quotations/Orders/Contract
Quotations are only valid in writing and during the period that they state. If unstated, the period is 10 days (incl. 3rd Party Products). Orders may be received by writing, internet, telephone or fax but are only binding when accepted by Dell in a written Order Confirmation. Please check the Order Confirmation and notify Dell of any mistake in writing immediately or the details stated in the Order Confirmation will apply to this Agreement. Dell reserves the right to change Products (incl. 3rd Party Products) at any time but Dell guarantees you at least equivalent functionality and performance.

  2. Price & Payment Terms
Products and Service Offering prices, tax, shipment, insurance and installation are as shown on your invoice. Changes to exchange rates, duties, insurance, freight and purchase costs (incl. for components and Services) may cause Dell to adjust prices accordingly. Payment will be made before supply or Service or, if agreed, within 30 days of the invoice date without further notice from Dell. Payment timing is of the essence. Dell may suspend deliveries or Service until full payment for that order. If payment is late, and you purchase as a company, the maximum statutory interest rate will apply on the late amount and if you purchase as a Consumer, interest will be at 2% above the minimum lending rate on the late amount. In either case, the costs of recovery shall be payable by you. Cheques may only be accepted conditionally.

Now...I can't see anything in there that says they may go back and change the price...so howcome they can state it on an order confirmation? I reckon it's a rushed job from yesterday.

who is going to email them to chase them up then ?

after looking at the confirmation email it looks like one needs to wait for up to 72 hours before the order appears on their tracking system. so i've got to wait till friday night / sat morning before customer services will discuss this.
