Anyone got a quickshift kit or has an opinion on them?

Any good?

How much and where from?

After the quickshift I had on the Mk2 the 4's gearchange is long! Fed up of missing gears too!

Thanks!

i've got B&M short shifter £160....RUBBISH [:(!] fitted badly by amd too. getting the standard shifter put back at next service.

When i had my car chipped i got talking to the guy about short shifters and he was telling me about this one that some audi owners have had fitted, he couldn't remember the name but said it was around £400 [:O]

but he did say it was brilliant and reduced throws by 50%, but the £400 cost is a choker

golfather, I did that in my MK2 and it was good but it was with a Sparco Seat mounted to the floor. The Recaros in the MK4 don't go low enough to make chopping the stick viable, I'd be reaching down to far.

Could do with the Reacaro's going an inch or so lower to be really comfy, probably end up ditching them for some Sparco's in the future if it works out as a track day car.

Well I've ordered the TT part from Martins in Basingstoke.

It's a part from the front Drive TT's which have only just gone on sale over here as such there are none in the UK so I have to wait for the part from Inglestadt, about 10 days. Chap was puzzled as to why I wanted it as the front drive TT's are so new... was helpful when I told him it was for a Golf.

Let you know what I thyink when it arrives.

What was wrong with the B&M shifter?

I was going to try on of these on my 02J g'box in my beezer...

How did it make the g'change feel? Was it just not suited or not fitted/setup correctly do you think?

cheers

The standard shifter was quiet and solid feel to it if notchy, the B+M was rattly and clanky and the throws seemed not to have changed at all.

Yes, i think it was fitted badly and i should have gone back with it but i had been there all day from 9 am to nearly 6 pm and i wanted to get home (coilovers and downpipe fitted at same time)

I'm having the factory shifter refitted at next service.

I've got a B&M on my Polo and IMHO it's one of the best mods I've done to my car. Makes it feel very "sports car".

I've had no issues with it at all, and it has reduced throw by about 40%

The kit I've got is meant for a MK3 VR6, and is very different to the MK4 kit (the MK4 kit has some kind of ball in the middle of it!)

I can't speak for the MK4 kit obviously, but my expriences with B&M are nothing but good.

Got a Neuspeed one which looks similar to the pics I've seen of the TT one. Made the mistake of buying direct from Neuspeed which is probably the most expensive place to get Neuspeed kit from.

The gearchange is even more notchy than standard and feels like it does not want to be hurried. Took a little getting used to as I find that all the other controls in the Golf require more or less equal amounts of force to operate. Having said all that, I've not once thought of going back to the standard setup which just had too much travel IMO. I do like the solid, chunky feel of this arrangement and would recommend it unless someone wants a "hot knife through soft butter" kind of feel.

I have just bought one of these TT bits. It looks loads different to my shifter though. Mines a 99T 1.8T, whould it be different?

I seem to have a little black box on top of this part with a switch in it - Reverse light switch I am guessing? And the cable is bolted on not held by a spring clip.

Anyone found the same? Will it fit if I get the clip?

Cheers
