wifi works fine on the uk,us and jap

Used it quite abit on the plane last feb coming back from snowboarding. My mate was 10 seats down the plane and head 2 head ridge racers was great.

You can run software of the memory card and so doesnt ask you to upgrade the software. But I have heard today that UK UMD movies

can even ask you to upgrade so wouldnt run them. But then again I would ever buy a UMD movie.

I bought mine yesterday at 9pm, luckily the shop had 3 left.

I also bought Ridge Racer, but Everybody's Golf is something else. Stop counting how many times the misses has nagged me to stop using it.

Trying to buy 'Stealth' on UMD without any luck as blown away by the demo my mate had on his American bought one.

couple of guys at work bought one and its a very impressive bit of
kit. However, for the price it costs and the amount of times i'd
actually need to use it when im traveling is very minimal so isnt worth
me buying one.

Yeah , you know American UMD's wont work on UK PSP's but JP UMD will
work. The quality is meant to be quite good on the UMD's but I have yet
to try one

I bought house of the flying daggers on UMD and the quality is
excellent. You will need to use your earphones or get some external
speakers unless you are in a very quiet place as the sound volume is
fairly low. There are no extras on all the UMDs that I have seen and it
is a bit disappointing just to have the movie and nothing else. I
bought a 1 gig memory card and put scrubs/simpsons/family guy episodes
on for breaks at work etc and find this much better. I would only buy a
UMD again if I was going on a plane or long train journey or something.

I've got a few games now so I'll give a quick summary of each if anyone is contemplating buying any:

Ridge racers - everyone will probably buy this and it is a great game

Everbody's golf / Hot shot golf - my most played game (once I sussed the putting) by far, fantastically addictive

Tiger woods - played a lot until I got the above game. It feels not
quite optimised for psp play and just doesnt work as well as
everybody's golf

Virtua Tennis - Great game, almost identical to the psp version (vt3 I think). Will be great in multiplayer I reckon

Fifa - Hate the graphical slowdown, rubbish, traded it in. Some will like it though.

World tour soccer - good game, easy to play, presentation is a bit basic but best footie game until pro evo comes along

Wipeout pure - Really good game, nice graphics, nice sense of speed

Coded Arms - Rubbish game, repetitive, boring levels, played for about 10 mins. Demo videos looked good but big letdown

Metal Gear Acid - rubbish game (unless you like turn-based card game?!)

Ape Academy - weird weird game, very funny, dont know how often I'll play it

(Before anyone asks, I have traded a lot of these games and thankfully no longer own some of them)

Virtua Tennis, Everbodys golf and either Ridge or Wipeout are
must-haves. Lumines is supposed to be majorly addictive but I have
enough addictive games for the moment.

Lumines IS majorly addictive and sooooo playable! [;)]

Its evil, a single game can last around 45 minutes and it eats into
your free time, it takes away your life!! Probably my most played PSP
game by far. Went away for a few days last week, took my PSP and
Lumines was the only game I bothered taking ;)

I'd agree with Uzi on Ridge Racer, its a damn nice version and it looks
gorgeous. I've not played it much though as I tend to prefer Wipeout.
Wipeout is completely stunning! Plus my ridge Racer is a Japanese
version and its a bit tricky to navigate a few of the menus!!

Other 2 games I've got.

Untold Legends - well, I guess its ok if you like dungeon crawlers like
Balders gate. Its nowhere near as good as balders gate though.. I
reacon its a bit boring tbh. Probably good fun multiplayer. I'd
personally say.. don't bother buying it!!

Medievil - picked this up on Thursday [:D] Loved it on the original
Playstation and the PSP version is a reworking of that one. Been
playing it loads, I love this game, its well funny in places! Choppy
framerate at times but it looks V pretty, excellent orchestral music
and top voice acting (narrated by Tom Baker in proper Little Britain
style!)

I got one yesterday, wasn't going to at first but then thought 'ah, sod it!'. Chris, did you know this 'Interest free' option at Currys now costs you ?19 when you settle with HFC Bank? Just wondered if they told you that! I got it over 10 months for an 'extra quid'.

What an awesome piece of kit, well worth it for the Wireless Internet alone IMO, I'll use this LOADS. Saves booting up the lappy!

I got Lumines, Mercury and Ridge Racer with the extras pack (in-car charger, UMD boxes, external battery pack etc.) for ?249.99

I LOVE IT! [:D]

Its got Wi-Fo built in , just gotta change some settings and it'll
work. The browser comes with the 2.0 FW , it currently comes with
1.52(the PSP), if you want home brew do not upgrade , installing thet
sample/demo disc installs it for you. Homebrew may be avail on
1.51/1.52 soon but currently works only on 1.00 and 1.50.

Like many in here bought one at turn of the year and flogged it 3 months later as the only decent games were Ridge Racers and Wipeout, thought it better to sell while I could at a decent price and possibly buy a UK one when GT4 was available.

It is indeed a class piece of kit but my underlying fear was how quickly it would get scratched etc and how robust the UMD drive would be after a year, hence the sale.

I think the novelty will wear off very quickly with most buyers simply because it was never designed for the UK market. Its target audience is long haul commuters, scenario being that as a commuter you are generally stuck in a bus, train or plane for what is ultimately a boring journey, this is where walkmans, iPods and portable gaming sytems will thrive. In any other environment a full size console or PC will be more appealing for gaming as ideally you want to sit down with a big screen and big sound without interruption.

There are obviously other places where you can use the PSP and gets tons of fun, but I believe the above target audience is where the PSP is squarely aimed, in Japan/China the majority of workers commute to work via public transport and on average spend 30-60 mins on said transport apparently.

I ordered one months ago from clarkesimports.com who and paid by
paypal. i emailed to ask when it would be delivered after a week
of waiting and they said within the specified 28 day timeframe.

After 28 days i had received nothing so emailed them to ask WTF was going on only for my email to be bounced back.

It turned out the owner of ClarkesImports.com, one Mr Stephen Clarke
has been sued by Sony over his selling japanese models in the European
market.

I put a claim through paypal and won the case but they are unable to
give me my money back because clarkesimports closed their PayPal
account shortly after the sue.

If anyone else has had problems with this company feel free to PM me, i doubt i will ever see my money again.
