Hi let me introduce myself, I'm Kevin 22 years young, I live in the Netherlands and I'm a member of VW-speed.nl

About my project:

It all started in 2004 when I bought my 1.8 20v at the dealer!

As the car was in 2004

Some Pictures from the good old days

Taken on the day I bought the car at the VW dealership.
I was so damn proud, I went from a Golf mk2 1.6 Diesel (1986) to a Golf mk4 1.8 20v (1999)!!!
The sales manager asked me how old I actually was, I just turned 19 at that time and he didn't believe me hahaha

As the car was in 2005:

In 2005 the car was completely resprayed in a custom colour!
Fitted a chrome Koni Coilover set (stiffness and height adjustable)
Then finally got me some rims :p Porsche Turbo's!

The theme of 2005 seemed to be my car being at the bodyshop...
Lets just say it had some problems with the paint, in 2005 it has been painted 6 times by different bodyshops, the 6th time it finally worked out!!
The dealership made sure the first 5 times were screwed up by n00bs then I had a few meetings with a few people from Volkswagen Netherlands and they took care of my problem and had it send to the best bodyshop it could go to, and completely redid my car!!
I was SOOO happy after all that time my problems would be solved

The way it looked for a very long time in 2005...

We changed it to a custom colour! It's lighter than the original colour...

This was the final look for 2005, not spectacular but still I liked it!

*****2006*****

For 2006 I wanted to go into the next stage of the project make it a bit more interesting!

Worked from august 2005 untill Mai 2006 on polishing my Porsche Turbo wheels  fitted some 215/35/18 tyres!

Had Bob from BSS airride systems install a customized Koni/BSS Airride install!

Had the bumpstrips and doorhandles painted, fitted USA GTI Rear lights, and a complete aluminum R32 trim for the interior (shifter included)

Interior/Airride install:

I had Bob customize the front struts for that extra inch of drop  :D

This is My airride configuration:

4 Specifically by BSS/Koni developed airride system which are adjustable in firmness from under the hood.
The air tank is 10 Liter (more wouldn't fit in the box i've made :banghead: )
4 BSS airbags
25 Meters of airhoses in 8 mm

4 Elektromagnets of 600 liter per minute

Air cooled VIAIR 70l/minute compressor
adjustable pressurevalves, 2 gauges, switches and a Remote control that functions over 200 / 300 meters distance

About the Box I made, i've made it from 19mm MDF wood ( don't know what is called in english)

I've made it soundproof by sticking a vibraflex damping mat...
It contains a bit of lead and is heatproof.

This is the woodenbox that exactly fits in the spare tyreroom....

http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/Photoshop-020.jpg

http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/Photoshop-021.jpg

On top of that came a plate of the same material MDF (because I wanted to have the same density throughout the whole box...
I've also made this soundproof by fitting the same Vibraflex mats!

Screwed the whole thing together and fitted it in my car, the plate rests on rubber so the noise won't sound through the whole body of my car....

Gauge/switch panel:
http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/001.jpg

This is how it looks at the moment, I've made a top cover and put some nice carpet on it, underneath this plate is still some room to fit a DLS or autobahn amplifier :p
I fitted the lid with a piano hinge so everything feels really solid!
http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/002.jpg

This way of fitting the top cover I've only lost 2 inches of trunk room (it's still a daily you know  )
http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/007.jpg

Current install:
http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/006.jpg

EDIT: I forgot to mention, the complete box with airride weighs allmost the same as my 18 inch spare rim I had in there before the air... :p

Other interior pictures:

TT pedals and footrest (should get me some new carpets...)
http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/003.jpg

R32 shifter...

R32 aluminum console:
http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/046.jpg
http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/047.jpg

Leather parkingbrake:
http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/005.jpg

Overview:
http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/008.jpg

Also fitted an original (new) armrest in the front and this winter I am trying to get me some leather Recaro's or R32 seats!

I am going to get all electrical this winter! I'm going to fit Original Cruisecontrol, W8 lights, bora airboxes (don't know the correct name), propably a MFA, a MFD, and hopefully I'll be able to fit original VW Electric windows and mirrors!

Wheels:

As said before I polished the porsches on my own (with the help of my girlfriend, she's also a complete vw nut 8) )

http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/DSC01123.JPG

http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/DSC01124.JPG

Remember I did the polishing myself!

The second rim from the left is like they where before after taking off the paint with a chemical pealing!

http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/DSC01080.JPG

http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/DSC01084.JPG

My dad allmost killed me for making the house dirty for the past 9,5 months
(silver aluminum powder on all the door handles)

hahaha

Next year I want to have the porsche wheels "hochglans verdichtet" the quality of the shine should be between polishing and chrome.
That way it doesn't have that fake shine of chrome they then should be better protected against dirt and the weather

I also have a set 17 inch BBS RS but it's with a flavour, they aren't with the normal BBS hearts...

They have Posters hearts in them, they were specially made for Postert ( a german tuner) so these wheels are really rarer than rare.

These are the Postert bbs wheels

http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/DSC01069.JPG
http://www.volksforum.com/albums/files/9/0/4/postert-velgen.jpg
The last one is a photoshop I did, before I had the airride

There also is a center piece for them, but when I took those pictures I was refurbishing / polishing the outer rings.

And at the moment I am in a negotiation with a guy to buy his "regular" 17 inch BBS RS :surprised:

Other mods:
The Remus exhaust really had to go, it didn't fit properly and after a year I was so sick of it so I decided to refit the original exhaust!

When I installed the Remus exhaust I had to cut a whole piece out of the rear spoilerlip, so I ordered a new original piece at the dealer!

And to do it the right way I've also ordered all the brackets and bolts for the original exhaust because the rubbers were worn and the brackets and bolts were rusted.

http://www.kevintdi.nl/ipics/26-06-06-003.jpg

Offcourse I just couldn't resist, since I had a new rear-spoilerlip and the old front-spoiler was really really really scratched, so I had to order a new one!

a Few weeks ago the organisation of a German Golf mk4 meeting invited me to be in the showroom of the local VW Dealership. and I can tell you this... It was a GREAT weekend!! The hotelbar was fantastic and all the people were really nice... :D

On our way to the meeting my gastank cover broke because I was driving to low @ the Deutsche Autobahn @ 160km/h
Had to take it off though!! ( so nice when you have airride )

http://www.kevintdi.nl/g4treffen/000.jpg

In the evening we had to tryout the hotelbar, and had a lot of fun!

New Headlights
http://www.dubaudi.de/2006/sommertreffen/images/IMG_8511modified.JPG

This is the final look untill now (date 29-08-06). At the German meeting I bought a set of Original VW Valeo Jubi (20th) headlights, and decided to fit them while being in the showroom haha [:p]

I actually haven't done anything on styling point of view... Tommorrow (30-08-06) it's going to the vw dealer to get a new clutch etc.

Hope you guys like it, I'll keep you guys updated about the next steps in the future!

Thanks guys!!

Car of the month, car of the year... Thanks for all the honour guys!! In the beginning of this year I would have never thought so many people would like it [:)]

Thanks again! The RS6 wheels and those Polished Porsche twists are for sale!! I have my eye on a set of really special (oem+ style) wheels! But since they are about 1000 euro's a piece I am not sure yet!! [:O][:p]
