ill wait until it comes down in price and can be
"modified" but call of duty 2 looks superb cant wait
Comments like are going to keep prices high forever. I don't see the
issue with paying ?40 for a game especially when you can part ex them.
In terms of the hours you get for the money games are very well priced.
The future of gaming depends on us spending our money really as the
costs of producing games now is in the tens of millions especially for
the bigger games.

Definately right there matey! Keeps me in a job!!! Really don't like
the mentality of just copying ALL software left right and centre as if
it aught to be free. We sometimes spend several years creating these
games and the thanks we get is that folks just rip them off :(

I must admit that my own XBox is chipped. Main reason for this is the
rather splendid XBox Media Centre and to play imports (legitimate ones)

I do confess to downloading some games, but every one that I've thought was worth playing I've gone out and bought.

Development is gonna get more expensive next time around, and I think ?40 is a bargain price for next-gen software.

I do however object to the price of the console. It'll be $400 dollars,
so why are we gonna be paying ?400? Its the same machine.. so why do
they rip European customers off.. almost as if its to subsidise US and
Japansese prices. Shocking!! Should be no more than ?260.

They'll charge us the difference and put it down to import costs etc
etc. Why we have to be so ripped of in this country I don't know. The
problem though is that we take it. In other countries they'd probably
just not buy the consoles out of protest which would force the costs
down.

I will get a 360 but not until at least the first price drop or decent bundle package.

I reckon there will be a price drop as soon as the PS3 is released so it could be worth hanging on.

The game prices are being quoted as ?49.99 rrp which is a lot of money, in real terms this is a 40% increase, are the development costs really that much more.

Apparently they are. I was watching a developer interview from E3 last
week and the costs for these games is sky rocketing. We want more and
more so each game needs more developers and the technology to produce
them gets more expensive. Its worth it to them though as the games
industry now can rake in more on a title than the movie industry.

However I would rather see game prices stay the same or they will risk
a massive increase in piracy. Game prices have been steady for a long
time and if you sell them at the right price you will sell far more
games than you will if you slap another tenner on. Also how is going
from ?39.99 to ?49.99 a 40% increase - more like 25%.

we get ripped off for the price of the console.then we get ripped off for the price of the game.so what if  i try before i buy ive bought plenty games that ive tried first.if we are not getting ripped off how come if theres a slight drop in sales the console then drops by ?100 and if the sales dont pick up then it drops again its a joke.my brother works in japan he sends me loads of inports thats one of the reasons i "modified" my xbox and media player is quality.i bet microcrap can make an xbox 360  with profit for ?50 so im supposed to happy that the other ?350 goes into there pocket not mine.yeah right. this i rip off all software comment i know loads of people that do but i dont.i go to the cinema if theres a film i want to see not aquire it. yeah theres loads of people that download it but i just cant be bothered with the poor quality.next time think before you judge me nikb and del

I did think and my comment still stands. Microsoft actually makes a
loss on the console, the profits come from the games sales. Its been
the same in the console industry since it started. Initially they start
out with a relatively small manufacturing run and as sales improve they
move to bigger premises where they can vastly increase the numbers of
consoles produced and reduce production costs. Then the consoles come
down in price. Another factor deciding the price drops is console wars
- each manufacturer trying to outdo the other. It has very little to do
with us.

STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The price is wrong and the release date is wrong.

Play have been the first to post the release date and price and this is only a guess, its pre-order and NO money will be taken from your account/card until the price and dates are confirmed.

Amazon, game, play they all do this, look at the sony PSP it was listed last year with a release date and price, none of which came true.

p.s ordered mine on monday, cant wait.

Funny thing is the xbox 360 comes in different models, which one are play.com selling

?50 a game, cripes as Penfold would say! I remember the day when you go and get the latest release out on the Spectrum for ?9.99, wait half an hour for it to load and then marvel at the glory of the monochrome graphics! The budget games were ?1.99!!

Seriously though, I can't see the games being ?50, I know the adult market has increased a lot but kids must still make up the bulk of the sales? ?50 is serious dent in any parents pocket for little Jonny!

so microsoft are skint and by releasing stuff that constantly needs updated thats the only way they can scrape by.also ive not seen you have a go at anyone commenting on the new coldplay album as the only way they have heard it is by downloading just like the xbox games etc.

No one said Microsoft was skint, and its not Microsoft that I'm
concerned about. Its the software houses that matter. And I'm certainly
not against trying the game before buying it much like people are doing
with the music. I do that regularly by buying a game and taking it back
if I don't like it. I've spent a fortune over the years on cd's that
have been a waste of my money so I've no argument with that.

Not so. There are plenty of legit sites around which have legal
streaming media of the full album, MTVasia.com being one of them.

Spot on Nik! Totally spot on

I've no objection to try before buy either. As long as they do buy a
decent game after they've tried it. It is the software houses that
suffer from people who simply never buy anything!

And don't get me going on the dodgy lot who make a profit out of piracy, they're even worse!!

why buy it when its free[;)].a very good friend of mine works for a software developer he gives me stuff months before it out.ill give you clue im playing gta san an on the xbox.hes worse then me.but i do agree selling it is out of order i dont sell any thing as a friend at work found out when his front door went in at 5 in the morning, he got what he deserved.if the game is good ill buy it when its out.as for software developers well its up to them to protect there games valve seem to have cracked it i dont know any one that has tried a copy of half life2 and not been banned.if you want counter strike (why wouldnt you)then you have to buy the original or as i did from valve themselves.so know doubts thats not good enough but i try.
