I was at a dealer today and they had a new R32 in the showroom (black, 3 door). Chatting with the sales guy revealed that there are no more being made but there are quite a few new ones knocking about as the dealers ordered quite a few just before the books were closed. His dealership is one of group of 4 and they ordered, and are getting, 5 EACH!![:O] And worse, he said that enquiries for the R32 have dried up, no-one is asking for them any more[V] VW need to do a bit more marketing to get them shifted and keep the prices up.

The one piece of good news is for the owners of 5 door cars, all 20 of the R32s that they ordered have 3 doors. So at least the 5 door will be a bit rarer.

But I love my R32 so I don't care about this too much as I intend to keep it for a long while[:)]

Yep, just about all dealers have 'some' Even the little non main dealers have them now.

There should be about 400 in total around the net work. Its a shame really because these cars where needed 4 months back, but have kept on being delayed from VW-G

This will not help the secondhand values of them either becuase i know that 'some' dealers are offering discounts.

We have spoken about this issue lots of times before, but its a real shame how this car has just been dumped on the UK market without any real build up or launch. It all came a little too late in the MK4 life span. I cant help but think that the Anni spoilt the entrance of the R32. Not so much in car for car, but the timing of it all. Was it a toss of the coin in which one would be launched first ? Must be a real pain when you have so many nice models to lauch within a year of each other.

Saying all that its still a cracking car and has great equipment levels for the list price !

Just surprised to see one non VW franchise so soon

Yeah, I think a lot of people who bought the Anni would have gone for the R32 if it had been available.

They are everywhere at the moment, Stoke VW has 4 in stock (all silver 3drs), and my home dealer in Exeter has 3, one black 3dr and two blue 5drs

you might want to consider that it was the golf's 25th birthday so it was a safe bet that the anniversary would be released in '02. [^] maybe they could have released the r32 as the anniversary and not as a 180T or 150PD, however this would probably priced most Anni buyers out of the market for a special edition car.

I agree with Wish, supply and demand was not handled well at all with R32, I think over the coming months the prices will settle down and they will realise their real worth.

Its annoying as I know of ppl waiting 10-12 months on the delivery of their cars and now they are sat in stock, I guess its never helped by speculators trying to buy up orders to sell on at profit.

Its going to be interesting to see how much depreciation effects my car, I would be happy if its at the same level as a normal GTI golf, afterall I bought the car to drive and enjoy and not to make any money off.

The right way to look at it Otto.

Imagine if the car had be launched 2 yrs previous.... we would all have massive debts but would be driving around with massive smiles on our faces !!!!!

I still say it ........ WOW what a car !

Plenty of R32s... which are still being bought, slowly but surely.

No dealer has a brand new bog standard 3dr blue pearl R32- which is what i'm looking for.

i think the main colours that are left are mostly black and silvers.

As you say, they do seem to be going "slowly but surely" as dealers are very reluctant to give discounts. I got a bit on mine plus a good trade in price for my old Golf but they weren't in any hurry to do a deal.

As for colours, AFAIK all the Deep Blue cars have gone and all that is left is black and silver (mostly silver). Most dealers only have 3 door cars so it you want a 5 door then you could be in trouble.

Latest word on the number of R32s that came to the UK is "about 1250 officially plus 400 or 500 imports" so its still quite a rear car[^]

That doesn't seem to be many? Isn't that less than Anniversary models?
as far as i am aware there were 300 of each colour and petrol and diesel, so 300xsilver petrol, 300xsilver diesel, 300xblack petrol etc etc, making 1800.

one dealer told me that there were 800 r32s delivered to the uk dealers, don't know how many imports.

i could be totally wrong though. many people have told me that there have been only 1500 anniversaries but i think that's how many the US got. again i'm not too sure.
