I've been recommended to try and change the rear centre VW badge on my MK4 Golf.

I'm not to sure which one to go for and which one fits the best..

I've tried looking for the old topic on this, without much luck...

If any one has the link then please could they post it for me..... or

Kindly post pictures for me to have a good look at....

Thanks

Kev..

No pics, but you want a sharan rear badge. Its small enough to fit in the recess left on the boot when the golf one is taken off.

Your car is amazing by the way, I dont even look at the pics you posted now because they annoy me !!!![:'(]

Cheers mate [:)]

The Sharan badge, is this the flat badge that goes with the contours of the tail gate? as I've heard of different badges where the back of the badge curves to much and you need to build up a layer of double sided tape to make it stay in place.

Have you done this to your car?

Have you been able to find the old topic on this subject?

Thanks for saying that my car is amazing, but your car is the nuts. I love the colour of it and the wheels and you seem to keep it in great condition.

Cheers for the help..

I know you're specifically after pics of the Sharan badge, but one thing i might add is, i'd check both the Sharan and the Passat one next to each other if i were you, because contrary to popular opinion, (and not that i'm disagreeing with everyone else) but i've seen both side by side at the dealers and the Sharan one i was shown was infact LARGER than the Passat one!

Here are a couple of pics of my Passat rear badge (colour coded Reflex Silver courtesy of GaryM!)

The Sharon badge seems like the one I should buy, but does any one know what the part number is?

Also is the Sharon badge mounted to something like the original rear badge is, a black / grey plastic mount or is it just a 3D chrome badge that glues straight onto the bodywork?

Cheers

I thought about removing the badge fully before, but it would cost me well over ?200.00 to have the hole filled and the whole rear tail gate sprayed.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

I would prefer to have this done, but I don?t want to spend anymore large figures on the car.

yeah it does look good. im having this done in the next few weeks, badge removed and smoothed, along with the handle removed and smoothed. Having a Clifford solenoid fitted next week to pop the boot open. Been quoted ?240 for the boot job. Not bad at all.

Here are pics of my standard one versus my Sharan one.

I'll try and get the part number once I get home. Failing that ask for a badge from a 2002 Sharan- you'll get the right one.

It's like the Golf one (i.e. chrome with the grey plastic backing)- good idea to colour code it before you put it on.

Looks good, thanks for your help.

Hopefully I will go to VW this Saturday and buy the badge I need.

To colour code the grey Plastic... do you need to brush on the paint between the letters or can you pull the chrome part off and then spray the whole of the Grey Plastic?

Cheers

Part number is 7M3853630AFDY

The chrome part splits from the backing if you break the 6 (i think) plastic rivets on the back.

It's exactly the same method as doing the Golf one. There was a how to for that but I don't know if it's made it across to the new forum.
