Welcome
to the first in (hopefully) a long line of photography
challenges. Every month I'm going to be posting up a theme for us
all to photograph but not the usual rubbish like 'sunsets' or
'nature.' I'm going to go for some more obscure and interesting
titles to really get your creative juices flowing!

We'll
have 3 weeks of postings starting around the 1st of every month and a
final week of voting for the best shots. The winner gets a warm
fuzzy feeling (not available in any highstreet store!)

The rules are as follows:
  • A maximum of 2 photographs per member to be posted for each month's challenge.
  • All photographs must be new and original, no recycling your old shots!
  • All photographs must be resized to be 640x480px to retain a gallery look and feel to the postings.
  • And,
if you can, try to retain the EXIF information on your photographs so
we can see your camera settings used to take your photographs.
So, running from now till January 14th (1 month from today!) I'd like to set you all the challenge of taking a maximum of 2 photographs on the theme of...

"Unusual Beauty"

So
this is really be an 'eye of the beholder' challenge to show how well
you can make a jaw dropping photograph out of objects or scenes Joe
Public will simply walk past. Something you see beauty in that
everyone else would miss, got it? Nothing like flowers or common
things like that, I want something special so get cracking and good
luck!

Cheers,

David

PS - read the rules or Santa will not visit you [;)]

Ok I feel like a bit of a cheat posting this anyway as it's already had
good comments in another thread, but I like it so here goes [:p]

It's dust on the ground of a condemned lane which has been chalked by
"environmentally friendly" grafitti artists (I'm sure none of them
would think of themselves as grafitti-ing, they're just regular people
who have evolved into a little community who chalk this wall). Anyway,
it seems having chatted with them since, that although they noticed the
pretty colours on the wall, nobody noticed the little flakes that had
fallen off and mixed together, like so!

Going to the Netherlands for a few days in the morning, so hopefully I'll get some more nice piccies!

Edit: Second shot

Quality - always up for a challenge - one question - how much photoshopping is allowed?  I was thinking as much as you like as long as any images used are all yours to begin with, but just thought i'd double check...

I'd rather keep photoshop away from it as much as possible. Feel
free to correct the exposure or colour levels to a small degree but
making something look far away from the original image is cheating on
this one [:)]

Come on guys we've only had 3 submissions! I thought you lot had some creativity in you...!

When you've managed to digest the last of the chocolate and turkey, get out there and get snapping!
