Had a nice little go with a Type R recently he came flying past so thought I'd see how the Golf compared, caught him up and we both accelerated pretty even until the golf ran out of puff at 140, the Golf carried on (slowly) until the needle was just touching 145 but the Type R must of been doing 150+ by then so I let him go!

My Ipaq with Tom Tom 3 on registered my speed 2mph slower than what was on the clock, what is more accurate clock or GPS??

Can anyone give experiences of top speed with a Revo chip? Does it increase much?

I've had similar run'ins with type-r's, 140 seems a bit high for a std PD150 though [?]

Mine gets to 140 on the clock pretty quickly then crawls the rest, its done 44k now and does seem to have got better with age!

I think the GPS would be closer than the clock personally and that read 138 which is right for a std pd150, maybe someone will know this though.

hmm, I know it has alot more torque but about 50bhp down and heavier how can the 150pd match the type r for speed ?

The official speed is 134mph (with half payload) for the PD150, taken from the 2003 catalogue, sat in my desk draw[].

I guess if you had a low fuel tank, & was just the driver in it you may get a little more.[?]

I'd dont tend to go above 98/99mph on the Road angel, seem to be needing the car for my job & dont need the instant ban/jail stretch [].

At a 100mph I believe your traveling over 150mtr per second....[:O]

Top speed shouldn't be that affected by the weight, mainly acceleration will be the problem. GPS should be more accurate than your speedo but out of a standard 150 you'll be doing well to get to 140. I've had 140 from my revo'd pd150 but it wasn't flat out.

I'd got about 1/4 tank and 2 ppl in the car, there were 3 in the Civic.

I thought top speed for the PD150 was 137mph but just checked on topgear.com and 134 is correct, defo saw 145 on the clock on 143 on Tom Tom but suppose these could be off.

One thing is mines recently had a service which does seem to make a difference to the performance.

Jace, 100mph is about 44 metres a second, give or take. 150 meters per second is more like 300mph, not likely in a PD150, Revo or not[]!

It may have been 150 foot per second then, it was on discovery ch the other night, 'extreme machines' supercar issue, I have a good excuse though, I'd been with my favourite lady, stella for a bit, hic hic[]

You could be pushing out more hp than expected. My 130 RR'd at 148 standard. Even accounting for the innaccuracies in RR's, that's a good bit over.

I have had a few plays with type R but this was before chipping, usually found it fairly easy to keep up mid range but lost out to handling so may stand a better chance now with improved suspension.

I have registered 140 since chipping without too much effort but ran out of road and nerve[!]

3 people in the car is going to seriously dent its performance - surprised it managed to go much over 145
