I'm thinking about selling my beloved motor..weep weep.. [:(] What value would you guys put on it??

52 Reg - TDi130PD. 5 Dr, Black Pearlescent, Heated Beige Sports Leather Seats with 3rd Rear Headrest, Unmarked 18" RS4's with 225 Goodyears, Eibach Springs-30mm, Kamei Grill, Bonrath Vents, Other Subtle Mods. Climate, 4x Electric Windows etc. Absolutely stunning looking well looked after car. Only covered 6000 Miles.

Not sure what to price it at as they vary so much..!

The price could vary quite a bit, depending on whether you are selling to someone who lets their heart rule, or their head.

I would say that average book price is about £14.5 - but with the low miles, nice wheels, leather etc - you could maybe add up to another grand or so depending on who you are selling too. A private buyer looking for a standard motor may be wary of your mods, thinking its been thrashed or abused, and want a discount accordingly - however someone with the same taste looking to save themselves the effort of a little modding may be prepared to pay top dollar for it.

So my estimate is an almost certain £14,500 to a lucky £16000

Umm This is a hard one. Fairly new car. So you will be competing with VW Dealers Demonstrators. So price will have to be right.

The Golf 130 is the chosen one to go for (so the motoring press say anyway)

Andy ran has just sold a similar car for what i thought was amazing money. (Well done Andy)

You car is well equipped and the leather will help the car sell quickly, all be it maybe the wrong colour leather(personal opinion) But looks good with the metallic black ( The new Silver for 2003/4 ?)

Trade Price £14,000

Retail Price £15,000

My Price £14,895 to take £14550

My reasons: If the dealer had this car today, i think that it would be marked up at £15,795 because of the leather. Now they would have brought that car about £400 - 500 off book (£13,595) Leaving a fair profit and room to negotiate (remembering that the dealer will possibly have to take a part exchange, But no expense of a warranty)

Good luck with the sale, Nice car, Nice Colour and the leather will see a buyer soon.

IMHO Prices in Parkers guide are useless; they don't reflect reality. e.g. I know of Golf 1.8Ts selling at auction for more than quoted price for a private sale. Best guide is probably what other sellors are asking for similar cars in Autotrader.

Thanks guys but as I expected it doesnt give me the value for my car with that mileage. It has 31K on the clock not the industry standard 10K, which is why I asked the question, knowing that our expert Wish has better access, being in the trade.

I know for one along with all those with imports here that I cannot reasonably expect £14K for a car I paid £15K for after that mileage. I was thinking £12-13 private on a good day.

Ricardo, sorry i forgot to reply to you.

Think you will be really lucky to make £12-£13k of it

Nearer the £11,500 mark IMHO

Sorry but an '02 with 15k on the clock is booking at a little over £13k. One thing i will say is that it will look cheap in the paper and somebody that is looking for one but cant really afford one of the other lower mileage car will snap your arm off at the right price. Good luck !

I think you'll need to look at Autotrader and pitch your car accordingly. I noticed that there relatively few 130s for sale so I pitched mine recently at well above the Parkers price guide and in between what everyone else was asking plus a little for better spec. For info, mine was an import:

Dec 51 reg

5 dr Indigo Blue

Climate

Cruise

Winter pack

Lumbar support and CD Changer

14000 miles with 3yr warranty

I think I was lucky, had three calls in the space of 3 weeks and sold it for £13400 to the first person to come and see it. It only costs £15 to advertise in Autotrader on the web for 6 weeks so it's worth a try...

Does anyone think that the MKIV prices will take much of a hit when the new model comes out?I'm thinking about getting a newer TDi

in a few months time.Might be worth the wait to see if the price does come down. You never know there might be a few bargains kicking about.
