Any chance of an answer tonight!
My problem is that:
If it's the longlife servicing it's 5w-30 and complying to 507.00?
And if it's fixed servicing its 5w-40 and complying to 505.01?

Thanks!

the 507 longlife can be used in a PD with fixed services...

the new oils (507) work with the older cars...]

either oil 507 or 505.01 will suffice

505.00 is for petrol engines

505.01 is recommended for the PD engines on fixed term service interval ( 10Kmiles ) and is still widely available from brands as Fuchs, Millers, Comma, Carlube and Castrol...

506.01 is for PD engines on Variable Service ( up tp 20K )

507.00 is the latest grade which has now superseded all previous grades for VW Diesel engines.. available from Vw and other major brands. you will be fine using 507.00 on all diesel engines including older PD's but it is more expensive.

505.00 506.00 504.00 are for petrol engines. and you will find most oils carry both grades and are suitable for petrol and diesel engines.

hope this helps.
