I'm using it as its fantastic!

With the 1.6 VW tell you to use super unleaded not normal, otherwise it pinks and runs really badly. I have found with Optimax i'm getting and extra 100 to 120 miles per tank and the engine runs really sweet.

My cars got revo fitted and the setting on my sps2 module says to use 98RON fuel, the only fuel at 98RON is optimax. Its all thats been in my tank for as long as i can remember, not done any harm(touch wood).

As for miles on a tank, I could'nt tell you, cant say i keep an eye on that, although i may just out of curiosity now.

What sort of prices do you lot pay for optimax, it seems to vary, there are 2 shell garages by me the 1 is 87.9 and the other one is 95.9, quite a big difference. Where is the cheapest optimax in the UK?

85.9 at my local Shell garage.

Funnily enough I only noticed today. In my mind it's like 'That's what my car runs on' so I don't beat myself up over the price difference.

I really can't get my head round the 300+ miles to a tank thing though [:I]

83.9 here in norwich, my revo'd tdi130 gives me 500 to a full tank [8D]

Diesels are different, you can go to the moon and back on a tank[:D] my mate got his diesel chipped to 207bhp/300lbf and it still gets 40+ to the gallon.

The price of optimax dont bother me, but the price variation is wierd, especially local to me.

trl, I can turn my trip comp off by holding down either the up or down button, wait for the menu to come up and then down to display off and press ok. Thats if you have the red display in the middle.

LOL[|)]

Try running a 1.8T AND an RX8.[;)]

Presently getting no more than 22 mpg from the 8, so 230 miles range at best and the GTi on its first 3/4 of a tank was showing 380 on the trip (wife's driving). She didn't let the Golf empty as see saw cheap petrol (79.9p/l) so filled up.

Ive been using optimax in my chipped 1.8t and it does seem to make quite a bit of difference.

I put normal unleaded in the other day because I was noware near a shell garage and it seems less responsive.

Its worth the extra pennys.............

In my 1.8T I use optimax and think it does make a difference.

Hungrytang, I take it you buy yours from Staxton service station, as I can't find it anywhere else within miles of scarborough. Good to see someone else from sunny scarborough on here!
