Hi

Seriously thinking about buying Tom Tom Go but would like to know the following

Is it possible to store addresses???[?]. Allowing you keep them as your favourites as you do on the Internet

I thought that this would be possible but have been told by some people that this is not possible

Thank you in advance[:)]

I was also interested in one until a friend tried one and said that it wasnt very accurate and was a little slow. Ive seen great user reviews but unsure how good it is. Also does anyone know how it compares to the VW satnav that you can spec. Thanks

They are great. Mine is accurate within meters.

You can store addresses, favourite points of interest (POIs), navigate to POIs in the vicinity and you can drag the map to wherever you want to find whats near you. All touch screen, all easy to use. You can download speedcamera POI (for safe driving[!]).

I cant recommend it enough.

Nice one. Do you guys need any type of special ariel etc to get good coverage? Ive got a GTI on the way (never get tired of saying that [^]) and it has blue tinted glass (appearently some light blue thermal tint or something) and wondering if I might struggle to get good reception. Thanks for the advice

Not sure if the MKV has a metallised screen, I know that my TT GO didn't work in a Renault Laguna rental car that I had a few weeks back, but you can buy an add on antenna which solves that problem.

It really is a super gadget, I have got the Europe maps as well, (the full ones, not the major roads one that comes with it) and a few weeeks back It navigated me faultlessly from the centre of Berlin to the centre of Hamburg, including some pretty savage one way systems.

Can you choose most economical, fastest and shortest routes and put start and finish points in by actual addresses?

Is it a bit like "autoroute" in your car, but moving in real time as you drive?

Im considering one too.

I was toying with tom tom go or a PDA with tomtom on, but dont really have any further use for a PDA other than satnav.

Also, how do you update maps with new roads etc.? Is it like road angel with downloads and subscrptions to pay?

Thanks in advance...

With the Tom Tom GO you know the OS (unlike a PDA) isn't running any other back-ground apps and therefore has less chance of crashing or lagging with memory allocation errors. I believe there are some vouchers out there for Currys/PCWorld and Dixons which can knock off the total price.

You can plan routes like autoroute, with actual addresses but i dont think you can do fastest, shortest most economical.

There are lots of updates on TomTom website, dont know if they charge for new maps but theres no subscriptions. Other free downloads off pocketgps include speed cameras, mcd's etc etc.

You can even download funny voices like Sheela the Aussie!

Do a search for money off vouchers at Dixons, Currys, PCWorld, should get the price down to about ?360........GET ONE
