i was travelling on dual carriageway and heard this noise under car

i had music on loud and by the time i turned it down the noise went and i could see this section of my car in middle of road from rear view mirror.

it appears to have torn off the complete plastic under section and a section from under wheel!!!!

very lucky not to have cause an accident

i can only guess i hit something causing it to break-up then the wind caught it whilst driving

does anyone have part numbers for this stuff

i post pics later

sounds like you'll need a new undertray and at least one (if not two) side skirts. It looks like you're lowered so you might want to consider a metal skid plate as that will take one hell of a hit with merely a light scratch.

Is it the wheel arch liner or the car's engine undertray.

it was both

the undertray took wheel arch liner with it, well half of it.

anyone got a link for metal one??

thx

Nuts - my undertray fell off with the Passat - rang the stealer and they said 'Get it replaced asap - do NOT drive around with it off for long periods of time. The sump is not made of steel and a small hit will render it useless'. Hence, I wouldn't recommend driving around with no undertray for long.....

Luckily, I manage to salvage mine - just needed new clips to repair it.

No but I suppose the plastic tray does have some effect, and would deflect some of the missiles/objects on the road to a certain extent. Deffo need that big steel undertray!!! [:D]
