god dam oil pressure light still keeps coming on,

ive had 3 oil 3changes and filters in 5 months, changed the oil pressue switch, and had it on vag-com and nothing came up on it, and the oil level is perfect and doesnt need topping up at all as i check it every week

come on after 30 minutes of driving around beeps and flashes for ages until turn it off, doesnt get mega hot and never goes over 90 degrees on engine temp,

also had a new sump and have checked the oil strainer twice to see if anything is blocking the pick up pipe and it aint,

any ideas as i am getting seriously stressed ???

well its been goin on for 3 months now and the engine is still quite

also i forgot to mention that when if the beeping starts i have disconnected the pressure switch and the light and beep still come on, i am 99% sure that there isnt a second pressure switch on it as i have had it on the ramps and went over everypart of the engine with a torch with no joy

and vw are sure that there isnt one as ive seen the exploded view on the engine and cant find a second one , and i havent got a oil level sensor on it either its a 98 agu 67800 ish miles

the other option could be a brokem connection in the plug of the oil pressure cable which attaches to the switch have you taken this to bits and checked and cleaned it out ?or could also be a dodgy switch from new ????

I have a had a similar problem with mine switch looked ok from the ouside but was faulty.

Another thought is do you have the right pressure switch in stalled as there are 2 or 3 pressures of switch

i think i have the correct switch although the connections are different, mine had a long sleeve where it pushes in, they gave me switch that just has a connection blade on it which mite be wrong

but it said the same bar pressure on it 1.2 to 1.6

i have ordered a gauge from impossible performance when it arrives i will fit it and see if the pressure is correct

Have you / VW actually connected an oil pressure gauge to your car ?

You went to all the hassle of taking the sump off and didnt put a set of big end shells into it?

Bizarre.

I think now is the time for a new pump and big end shells as one of those cover your ass before it falls of kinda things

also what i cant understand is why it comes on when i disconnect the pressure switch, and there isnt another pressure ?

if it is the oil pump will there be summat on it that will set it off and make the oil light come on ??

If it's coming on when you pull the plug off, the cable is shorted to earth somewhere on route (you know that already).

I'd start from the plug and work back towards the dash.

might be getting too much oil pressure thats why the engine is still quiet.i would seriously get a pressure gauge connected upto it.

well what happend next i've got the same bloodly problem... i've done the following:

1) change the oil

2) changed the oil filter

3) changed the oil sensor switch

?and still no JOY

however yesterday i took it to my garage and had it on the ramp and the guy said theres ment to to be a sensor attatched to the SUMP, but we could'nt find it so today his going to replace the sump and add the level sensor... if this doesnt work i've the book it with the STEALERS...

i got my car back today!!!! and its FINE no probs at all , been driving for hours and no light at all (Oil Press STOP!!) the Grarge said that the oil sensor switch was the wrong one. it only had had only one pin... so he change it!! ?and got the two PIN....

When I had the 1.4 golf I had this, had the oil pressure switch changed. then it went faulty three months afterwards got that one changed under warranty and all was fine till I sold it.

I have a 1.4 golf mark IV 2001 59k on the clock and so far I have replaced the oil, oil filter, oil sensor, oil dehumidifier, cleaned the sump and cleaned the oil pick up gauze and the light still comes on.

Its not showing white scum on the oil cap having not been there since I purchased the car 6 months ago. I have driven 4k miles in the last 6 months without any problems or white scum on the cap.

I am in europe for work so any pointers is desperately needed as the only local garage who speaks english is stuck for idea now.
