Swap your V5 for my 1.6 mate - you'll save hundreds every year and nobody will try to race you with that badge and kit, while I'd have a wicked sleeper [:D]

Day 2 of putting on the sideskirts and its still not going as planned
!! I bought some double sided super strength adhesive tape, stuck it on
and installed the skirts ... all well so far but the double sided tape
was too thick and the sideskirt and body dont flush fit [:'(] Taking
this off now will be a task and a half [:(] but going to have to be
done.

I will now be using sikaflex to glue the skirts into place, Ive just had enough trying to mount them on in other ways.

More updates soon []

When I first had the Oettinger kit fitted to my car, the sideskirts, were stuck onto the sills with doble sided tape and as you have stated the skirt's didn't fit flush.

Then over time they started to sag and bow in the middle of the skirt to the stage where they were only held on at the end.

I then had the aluminium sill screwed to my bodywork sill and now they are sitting straight, flush and square. This is how it should have been done from the start!!

Don't waste time by trying to stick them on mate because it won't last!!

Am now seriously considering screwing the sills on. However, I dont
think the sills sit at 90 deg when held into place with the body ... is
this normal ? Once screwed in I can't afford to move them so must make
sure of this. Heres a picture to illustrate what I mean from a side view ...

Although IVe marked a cross and tick on each pic, Im not sure which one it should be. Thanks

AH I thought so !! The instructions arent very good ... they tell you
to draw a line and use that as a guide but it doesnt sit at the highest
point on the sill.

Theres a body line (where the vw stop spraying properly, ... one side
is smooth and the other is rough) which I wil prob use as a guide as
its the highest point on the sill

Thanks Simon (once again [:p])

Cars looking good Nudda.... long time no hear Baker...

I ended up using some black silicone sealer on mine; it fills the sill gap
nicely and stops it from sagging in the middle.... Can post some pics up if
your interested...

Regarding the spinning screw, have you thought about filling the hole with a strong
glue?

Im baccccckkkkkkkkkk !! An after a very very long time !! Even my this
thread was on page 2 when I wanted to come back to it lol.

Ive been busy with preparation for graduation at the end of this week
so have had to delay the fittings. HOWEVER, Im now alllll done !!! [:d]
Fitted the sideskirts today and adjust the exhaust and everything to my
liking ! Am very happy with the result. All parts of the kit are now
very solid and dont move at all, and it took a long time to achieve the
result. Have to give it to sikaflex for the sideskirts, that stuff is
magic !!

Cars very dirty at the moment but Ive taken some pics just now for you guys [;)] Enjoy [:)]

Rear view just incase I did something you guys didnt last see.

Mate that looks spot on, now just the rims
left then thats it mate, so what have you decided for or you still in a
dillema.

Sonny
I knew you were gonna be the first one to reply ! lol Thanks for the compliment mate.

Im in a dilemma as well as a cash flow problem :/ I definately want
deep dish wheels but the types I like are hard to find (black in
centre, chrome circumference) and also expensive ! I guess Ill have to
wait a bit before I can get some rims *Crys!!!* Im also going to get
some konigsports when I can afford them. After that, Ill be doing
smaller mods, nothing as large as the ones so far ... although I would
like to do some very nice large mods (ahem brakes upgrade ahem)

Will let you guys know if and when I do get some nice wheels ... I cant
wait myself but like I said, totally out of money unfort [:(] thats
students for you !

Thanks Simon.

Yup know what you mean, after the suspension and wheels I think doing
anything more (like those db9 door handles loll) would be silly.

Photoshoot - Im free until I start my postgrad course so anytime is
good for me ... BUT, Id want the suspension and wheels done before we
meet up cos I it looks realllllllly naff at the moment [:(]

Im very happy with the kit - i did a good job installing it seeing as
Im new to it all and am not the best diy man lol saved myself a bit too
[:p]

Will let you know Simon. Unless you want to meet up before, Ill
definately get in touch for a photoshoot. Might I add, anyone else is
also welcome .... [:)]

lol at your comment. How much have you got to spend on your alloys??
Because have tried looking on ebay for some. I'm looking at some non-vw
alloys at the mo i.e bmw m-parrallels and some brabus rims. Also mate
I'm a student aswell, just finished this year aswell. [y]
