Firstly, this thread is intended to help other who want to DIY their
kit on. I hope to ask questions and, over time, answer the questions
using my own practical experience or help/advice by you guys. I have
never had any experience with body work etc so I hope this can provide
information and help to even the most novice person wishing learn.

Day 1:

Got the oettinger kit back today, all nicely sprayed up. Whoever said
they cant match it exact to your current body colour was right,
although I am pretty happy with the final result ... considering my
paint is 5 years old and the new one is only 1/2 day old lol.

So far Ive only been able to get the front grille on (took me ages !!).
It wasnt too hard, there are tutorials for this around so I wont
bother going into detail. All you need to do is take the hood lever out and
pull the grille out of its place.

Now Im working on the rear valance. Getting the screws out was a
doddle but I am now stuck getting the valance clips out from the actual
bumper. Piccy below, I will give this a go again tomorrow morning,
after which I hope to get the new valance on and take the dub down to the
garage for installation of the new exhaust.

Questions 1 : Has anyone ever removed the rear valance, if so how did you manage it as I am having problems.

Fitted one of these when i worked at VW dealers,front and rear valance should(after you remove the screws) come off with a good tug,the new ones clip back in the same way. I seem to recall the side skirts being,shall we say,unco-operative,and we sent it to the bodyshop to have them done! The finished effect transformed the car though,and if i ever get a Bora i'll deffo be putting an Oettinger kit on! Paul.

Thanks Paul. Yup the sideskirts do look worrying ... Im still not sure 100% how to get them on lol

Im afraid Ill break the clips or even worse, the bumper the new valance
goes into, if I tug on it hard. could someone please verify this ?

Just give it a good tug from one of the wheel arches after taking out the screws in the wheel arches and the two in the bottom of the valance done mine yesterday only take 5 mins.

Day 2 : The old valance finally came off but with more prizing than
tugging. I wouldnt recommend anyone to tug on it as its all made of
plastic and cant easily bend/break etd. Prize out each clip fitting
type with a screw driver from the underneath, its pretty straight
forward.

Got the new valance on, piccy below. Off to the Exhaust people tomorrow, wish me luck !! []

Day 3 is the exhaust. Day 4 onwards will be fitting the rest of the kit. Updates to follow ...

Only just stumbled across this mate!!

The valances are easy to get off and you just give it a tug and then on with yoru new ones, nice and simple!!

As for the side skirts, maybe you want to meet up some time and have a look at mine? Or are you located miles away?

They really are easy to fit but you have to use the aluminium rails supplied with them or you will have trouble later on in life!!

Can't believe you have a silver bora mate, terrible colour and choice of kit, LOL!!

Day3:

LOL simon, thanks for the sound advice. Im located near Heathrow
airport, if its possible then it would be great if we could meet up
(unite the terrible twins LOL). Ive not got the exhaust fitted,
piccy below, which was a lovely fit ! No adjusting needed anywhere what
so ever !! Very very pleased with it (touch wood). Day 4 will probably
consist of the front valance and boot spoiler ... then the dreaded side
skirts arghhhh !! Ive got the aluminium rails for it, and will definately be glueing them into place when the time comes !

It looks like a 4mo exhaust? How much was it and how loud is it?

Yup Simon, Im really really happy with it ! Its a blue flame exhaust,
165 delivered from ebay. Not too loud, just a roar when you step on it (like the milteks)
... which is what I want, I dont want corsa-boy loud exhaust as thats
just silly doing 2mph and its going POP WEE BAH ROO !

Lets just say
that my sis new I was home when I was parking up so its does have a
nice, distant roar.

I was very worried Id have to cut into the valance but to my
suprise, it was spot on !!! [h]

haha thanks sonny ... as I said, Im very pleased with it. 10/10 for
fitting, from an old mate of ours who usually does the familys tyre
changes. He even let me get underneath and position the exhaust how I
like, making sure its leveled [h] now thats what I call service [:d]

You certainly don't want to hear my exhaust then mate, she back fires when you step off the throttle!! It certainly turns heads which may or may not be a bad thing?

Well I would be very happy with yours for that price mate and like I said, it look sspot on!!

Let's see what the rest of the motor looks like over the next few days then.

lol @ back firing ... it would be fun I guess but only for so long. My
mate has a yaris which does all the backfiring business but hes pretty
much tired of it now, giving him a headache if he drives for long.

yup for that price, Im very happy. got the looks and a roar in half the price I was expecting initially.

Going to have to take a break for the next couple of days [] as my
cousins flew in and wants to go places in london. I dont want to rush
my fixings as Im no expert and dont wanna bodge it up.

Simon, how far are you from Heathrow ? Id still want to meet up to have
a look at those side skirts if possible, if not then would it be
possible for you to take some detailed pics ? Thanks []

I know what you mean mate but I have just learned to live with it!! It certainly wasn't supposed to be as loud as it is, I guess that loosing a silencer does that to your noise level though?

I am just over an hour North West of you mate up the M40?

We could meet up somewhere along the M40 if that's easy for you?

My sideskirts are clipped onto the aluminium runner and they are very difficult to get off, I will see what I can do and email them to you, rather than post them up?
