as some of you know i bought -30mm eibachs to put on my golf but i aint happy with the ride hight

i feel it doesnt sit low enough compaired to the other cars i have used Eibachs on

so i am thinking of getting the -50mm ones and selling the -30mm ones

what do you think?

Thats the main reason I didnt go for springs and chose coilovers instead.

Yes they were more expensive but you never know what you are going to get with springs until your car is back on the ground and settled properly.

I much prefer the minor adjustments of coilovers.

Craig, just beware with -50mm springs as this could cause a whole new problem with a rubbing front ARB on the driveshaft

You wont regret it Craig plus you'll also benefit from the dampers as well as the adjustable height.

FK do a good range at keen price's, speak to Rich (R1GTI).

How long have you had them on mate?

Mine took a few weeks before they had settled properly - it looked just like yours did now in fact and then got progresively lower until it settled at around about -35 to -40mm

Craig I nearly went for 30mm lowering but Jabbas said on 18s you wouldn't notice the diff.

You will still have arb and driveshaft problems with coilovers.

You will need either :-

1. adjustable drop links with the stock ARB or

2. aftermarket ARB with more clearance or

3. KW coilovers as you can then use the R32 ARB which links differently.

personally I have speed bump issues with a 30mm drop so wouldn't want to go any lower.

Craig, did you fit Eibach or any other sort of shortened dampers as well as the springs or was it a springs only job?

Reason i ask is, I've been wanting to lower the Bora for quite a while now and had finally decided on the Eibach 'pro kit' 30mm drop with springs/dampers mainly as i dont want to go too low for practicality reasons, and i have heard that the Eibachs offer the best ride quality which is very important as the roads round mine are terrible

Yours is not the first report i've heard about being dissapointed with the drop given by the Eibach's so i'm still undecided about them as i don't want to get them and wish i had gone down the coilover route

I have heard that if you don't use shortened dampers, the Eibach springs will not give the full stated drop, so i'm just curious as to which setup you have mate..

Same situation with me Craig. I've never really been happy with the ride height given by my Eibach Pro kit

For me coilovers are like garlic bread, they're the future. []

Eibach make the springs for all if not most VAG cars, and they ARE excellent - can't see them being a problem.

As has been said, let them settle for a while.

Craig, as u know i'm on a 50mm drop on eibach springs and shock, and i'm well happy with the look of the drop and the ride aswell

and we don't have a problem with the anit roll bars rubbing like the petrol dudes have[][][],

so if mine is like yours Gerard (a tdi) then i will be ok to drop it 50 with decent shocks

also where did you get your shocks to go with the springs?

i see venom motorsprot do a set of 4 sprots shocks for ?150 is it worht buying these with the eibachs?

yours will be fine mate, your car is exact same model as mine, the early diesels have a thiner anti roll bar hence we don't have problems like the GTI's.(well thats what I've heard anyway)

i got Bedrock to do the drop on mine, they supplied and fitted it all,

I'm not sure about different make stuff tbh,
