ha ha, its a love it or hate it thing i think. It gets slagged off by some, others love it. I love it, but its becomming a pain now. I've already got a new bonnet sitting in the garage, but it'll wait till i get all my other bits done as i've got more important things planned for this year (holiday, 5 years since my last, i can't have both, car or holiday ha ha).

Hornetider, cheers, no i hope not. I used to go on Corsa sites, but this was back when 16"s were cool, the owners were older and more mature, and before the dreaded "combat kit" even came out. Im part of the Vauxhall Sports Car Club, recognised by Vauxhall. Its more for owners who like to perfect every details of their cars. Its just un-fortunate the Corsa has gone the same way as the Nova, but thats not to say there are some superb examples out there.. Its embarrasing sometimes to say I own a corsa. But sod the snobs, i've had the car 5 years, and i've got palns that'll at another 10 years. Its all work in progress, i've got SO much to do still, just about finances, time, money again, and money...

spg, check the later pictures, the wiper was set in the middle for the first 6 months, i then changed it to sit to the side. Seems morelike "its a corsa, lets pick on it". Also, its no more Max Power than anyone who has a golf, and sticks an R32 kit on it. The kit is high quality plastic, Stienmetz and Irmscher goodies, just like Merc has AMG, Brabus etc (obviously not on the same pricing scale). AS you say, not each to their own though, everyone has different tastes. However, it looks nothig like a touring car?? Not even the "upwards wiper" You need to watch more btcc..

Dannyboy, yeah, loads,a nd loads, and loads lol. Im currently waiting to put my new suspension on, but waiting to get some suspension top caps chromed as im unhappy with the originals. My girlfriend also has a 2.0 16v, but its the turbo (C20LET). Get on the motorway and it leaves mine for dust. My engines an early 20XE (opposed to C20XE) so i've got the benifit of no cat, larger valves, coscast head (cast from Cosworth, later heads were dodgy euro ones, not as good), and forged pistons. Its a good lump, but i want a turbo. The best alternative i can find at the moment it to turn mine into a turbo, so i'd go straight for the custom manifold, overboard pistons and block, rod bolt, larger turbo etc.. Also need to get some bodywork re-done as i "cheaped out" on the first job, and you know what cars are like, get what you pay for, now im paying for it lol... There other things too, like i want to underseal the car again, rub and paint down all the rear beam, anti roll bar, i want a roll cage, stack dash, another set of seats, the car will need another exhaust system (make that number 5 lol). I want to swap the V6 288mm front brakes for 4 pots, change the rear disc conversion etc. Its a toy project, tbh, i dont think it will ever be complete, but i wont sell it.

My other halfs the same (you can see her TVR purple corsa above). In fact, she has 4 pots going on next weekend as well, cow!!!

Smithjoe, i put its not a VW, stop moaning like a girl, i bet i've had more involvement with modifed cars that yourself. My best friend uses this site. Women...

Baker, nahh, no no no no, rage, peco ewwww.. They are two Magnex 6x4 rear cans. The one on the left is the first ever for a corsa [:D] The rear wheel arch has been cut out and welded over, then the system made up.

Bit rotten in these.

Mate it does sound like you have a lot planned for your motor.. Your Corsa should be well quick when you slap a Turbo on your it... Enjoy your holiday mate away from your motor.

i'd say i've spent ?15k+ so far, but thats buying and selling things. I had a ?3500 145db ICE system, but when i changed the engine, i sold it. I had brand new 256mm brakes on the front, new discs, pads etc, fitted them got a bigger set offered, sold them, bought the V6 brakes etc..

Prob ?5-10k of my own money, retrimmed my own interior etc. All helps. The birds one has the best part of ?35k worth of parts on there. Mines nice, hers is mental, but a biiiiit more lairy. Its good when we take them both out, one mad, in your face cover car material, mine all sublte.

But hers is still quicker, mooooo cow ha ha.

?35k on a Corsa???

Didn't fancy a nicely tuned 500bhp Skyline R34 GTR then??? lol

Sorry, i just don't get it....... surely a car that looked good and was Fast as standard would have more appeal?!?! You wouldn't lose as much either..... i'm guessing your girlfriends car is worth around ?7k/8k to the right person???

I know cars are a bad investment, but that's just like shooting yourself in the foot?

< - snip...

The birds one has the best part of ?35k

So ?35k+ in parts and a car at perhaps ?10K to start? thats pushing ?50k!!!!

As you say everyone to their own - but for ?50k, a Max Power Corsa or this: (from a dealer for ?49,995, and its RHD)

Guess which one I would have.

Oh and P.S - a Golf with an R32 kit is in no way comparable to this, as a Golf with an R32 kit is dressed up as a performance variant of the same model. I.e. they are OEM parts.

The Corsa is not dressed up like a performance variant of the same model - it is dressed up like a dogs dinner IMHO.

However I can appreciate hard work, and you certainly have put a great deal of effort into that - it may not be to everyones taste (including my own), but that should not detract from the fact that you have put one hell of an effort into that - and for that my hat is off to you.

No, i said ?35k worth of parts!! ther is a diffence. You dont build a car like Donnas without some freebies/dicounts along the way..... Thats inclduing buying the car for ?5k odd.

Also, you try buying and insuring a Skyline at 18/19!!!! And the maintenance/running costs. I think you've overlooked quite a few things here. How much is a full service on a Skyline? How much to fill it up? Now compare that to a 2.0 16v turbo corsa, with a brother that works for vauxhall (i.e parts at cost), that can be totally serviced at home. Also, how many skylines, although fast, look the same?

Please do not ridicule my girlfriend for being an individual and wantign her own car. The car is all her own idea, its a show car, only comes out in the summer. And its quite happy, even as a standard engine, to see of all the M3 range E30 to E46.... Thats before we start tuning it.

I think you all fail to relise, not everyone is happy to jump in at the deep end. At 18/19 (age we were when we bought the cars), things were very different. Skylines were only jsut becoming popular!!!

Again, you buy a Ferrari, at a point in your life when you only earnt ?8000 per year!! as said, i think some of you are failing to see that were not millionaires!!!! FAR far from it. At 18, Corsa/Ferrari, pffff, obvious choice. But at that age, choices are limited...

MY corsa bumpers and skirts can all be bought from any Vauxhall dealer. So how is it different from OE parts? They ARE OE parts.

Obviously the girlfiends one isn't, but again, its her car, she doesn't even use the internet, so its not about being famous or "looking cool". WE go to shows, clean the cars, go off looking roudn the show all day.

Im not expecting praise from everyone lol, im on a golf site, with a boyracer Corsa, but then think back to when you were 18. What car were you driving (more to the point, did you buy the car, insure the car, from your own "going to work" money, and nothing that was giving to you by a mum or dad etc). Look at it from that perspective, and things seem differnt. the only thing is, we have kept them, and not sold them. We both have other means of transport, she has another car, i have a bike to go to work on.

Also, if we were neds, wouldn't we have sold them buy now? Both cars have looked like teh do (just about) for 2-3 years now, yet we still have them, with a lot lot more to finish? That automatically takes us away from being your run of the mill modifier.

There is a point wher you think, "what am i doing" but then we've spent so much so far, and have such good fun in them, why sell up? Why no finish to the images in our head? Sure we can have other cars, but why? Were hoping the missis can get something nice like an RX8 or similar (price rage) in a year or two, and we are only 24 now.. We have alot of life yet to buy better cars ;) And being petrolheads, im sure we will....

Fella's no offence but don't come onto a VW forum and post pictures of corsa's and not expect a little negativity. I think the replies recieved so far have been pretty positive. Also don't start mouthinng off how much into the modified car scene you are, we just don't care. I'm sure your dads bigger than mine as well. Please think carefully before replying as this is a friendly site and we want to keep it that way.

Courty,

If you girlfriends got such a hot/fast/expesnive corsa how can she afford to insure that at such a young tender age? I've never known my insurance to go down after modifying my cars?

I think the point that Nick was trying to make was after spending god only knows how much modifying a corsa it is at the end of the day just a corsa that you wont get any of your money back on. Perhaps if the money had been spent on something else your loses may have been minimised. But like Nick also said we don't buy cars to make money on em. And before you say it yes a modified golf is still just a golf...
