Thanks for the heads up. What was the old otr price for the GT TDI 3-door? Its ?17,320 now and I would like to calculate the 'real' price difference if you add climate.

I think the RCD500 is a new addition to the UK market. Or may be not as I've just seen on the previous pricelist. Doh [)]

So a car I haven't even got yet is now ?910 cheaper than when I ordered it less than 3 weeks ago. (?215 more if you account for climate control but IMO its an overpriced option which I wouldn't have ordered anyway)

Yes - but thanks to this forum, maybe not quite so many.

i think an ?18k car just has to have climate control on it, optional or not.

Surely people who have ordered the GT before 19 April will get 2-Zone Climate Control. I would kick up an absolute stink if I didn't have it.

Just checked those links and 2-zone climate is still shown as standard on GT spec.

I can't understand why VW even offers 2-zone climate on the MKV; why not just climate as in MKIV?. Is the cabin big enough such that the 2 different temp. air flows don't just mix together?

Quote from Golf Price List Issue 4 (page 14)

'Prices and specifications

...Prices and Specifications are subject to change without notice.

Following the annoucement of a price increase, any vehicle order which can be accepted into the factory production system before the effective date of the price increase will be supplied at the current price, even if built and delivered after the date on which the increase became effective'

So IMHO if your order was already allocated a build date then you should still get CC.

No - this is only concerning the price. You are just as likely to get no climate but will not be charged for it.

Not correct Matt - 2-zone climate is now only standard on the GTI. It is an optional extra on all models including the GT.

Interestingly the SE has come off the best after these price changes. Have to admit i am comparing my price list (issue 4 1.1.2005) to the one on the website (issue 6 19.4.2005) so not sure what changes were done on issue 5!

On the new price list, the SE now gets the convenience pack and all round electric windows standard (total of ?245) but the overall price has dropped (on the 5dr SE TDI as an example) by ?345 (old price ?16,370 new price ?16,025)

Hope i got my sums right!

I wonder if VW will add the extras in to cars that were ordered on the old spec but have not been built yet and get a refund (just like how they will take out the CC for the GT cars)

Eh? They may well come with the extras but why do you think you would get a rebate as well?

The GT never had CC as standard - only the SE.

All very puzzling and confusing for current & prospective customers. The only people it helps are those with GT's already as their cars will now be perceived as higher spec (I have added climate to my options list in my signature)!
