Hi people, put my order in on Friday but not sure about Xenon lights. Do you feel that they are worth ?700. Do they make a big difference to:

1- the exterior appearance?

2- driving?

Another thing - do you think it is too late to add these to my car without delaying delivery? Thanks in advance.

But well woth the money, I love mine, Make the car look cool, and the night driving is awesome... however peeps do flash u as they think u have main beam on....

IMO worth the money if u want a pic i will post one of my car with the xenons??

Had them on my R32. Over-rated in my opinion and not worth the money! I don't think they are that much better than the standard lights. I would buy something else with the money like sunroof or 18s etc.. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me!

Wow, you do like showing pics of your car[]. Didnt even give me the chance to say "yes please!". They do look really nice but i am having a bit of trouble justifying an extra 700 quid. They do look awesome though. It will take my spec past the 25 K mark which is a threshold I dont wanna cross. I'm sure that then normal lights will look absolutely fine. I phoned the stealer 2 mins ago and he said that he would have to cancel the order and resubmit. TBH i cant be bothered going to all that hassle and then having to think about where I can find another ?725. Ill make do with my 18s and heated black leather and spend the 725 on some really nice ICE. Thanks for the input cjp2k.

They make the car stand out more alright but the best is just how much they light up the road.

I hardly ever use the high beam anymore when driving in the country side.

I think that the Mk-IV xenon's are not as affective as the Mk-V. So yes worth getting, but also it distinguishes you from the other Mk-V owners.

One thing is, you don't get that really cool halogen lamp deflector with te VW logo on it (a nice peice of design). For the people know havn't noticed go and have a look at them!

I've not been in a Golf with them but drove a MINI with them. I didn't think they were much better than the standard lights.

I do feel that they are dazzling sometimes on other cars.

Was it a face-lifted mini, if not the new lens's do make some difference. (A friend has an old Cooper-S and the xenons are not that bad, alot better than the halogens)

I have to admit I have been dazzled a bit by them at times. Straight after I've thought "I wanna dazzle people for a change". To be honest though I want to leave myself some mods to do for later when some of the initial excitement has settled down. I have a feeling that we will be seeing a great deal of GTIs on the road.

The Mini is a bad example to compare them because up until very recently they had old fashioned glass headlights and not clear ones so the light wasn't able to project as well as it could.

Have a look at group buy forum for how much MKV xenons would be to retro fit.

I think both the MKIV and the Mini have only Xenons on Dip.

The Xenons on the MKV GTi are Bi-Xenon according to the configurator, these work on both Dip and full beam using a mechanical shutter system.

My wife has these on her Lupo GTi and they are awesome, especially on full beam when it is like daylight.

To be honest, I probably wont. Like i said, it is a fair bit of hassle re-ordering the car. I know that the xenons are great but I think the car is special enough without the xenons. If I was buying maybe a 5 series or something, I would expect to see xenons and would be disappointed if they werent there but on a GTI its not bad. For a hot hatch, it has enough luxury features. I think Ill save ?725 but thanks for all the input and opinions. Now, can I wait till March/April...
