Looks superb.

I've just done over 1000 miles in mine so am using all the power and it is awesome.

The DSG is superb and definitely the best option I could have chosen. Was doing a bit of touring round the coast of NI yesterday and needed to pass a few cars who were toodling along at 30. Was in 'D' mode. Indicated and floored it, the change from 6th to 3rd was so fast it took me a bit unawares and I was past them by about ten car lengths before I realised I could pull in.

Lovin' it and I know you will too.

...and YES it did come with BOTTLE OPENER (result!)

After being all smug in the "Running in" thread - I'm sorry to admit I've been naughty. The DSG is so bad. It just changes down all the time (it seems to happen when I press the loud pedal [:D])

The handling of the MKV is much better. I remember having lots of "white knuckle" drives in the MK4 GTI's I had due to rolley-polley ride - quite sick inducing sometimes.

The MKV handling is not flat like a porsche, but it is much better resolved.

The noise from the 2.0 FSI-T is amazing !! - no air con this summer - too much growling and roaring to be had. Sounds almost BMWesque.

The DSG is unbelivable. I kinda regret spec'ing the paddles now as I can't figure out when to use them - DSG is so quick to change gear its ALWAYS in the right gear (in 1/10 sec etc). It saves fuel as when you back off (its in 6th gear at 30 mph - 38 MPG average), but uses more fuel (as it drops 2,3 even 4 cogs to blast out of corners at 5k + rpm - 18 MPG average) - oops [:$]

Has any one noticed the the little dance the xenons do at start-up? They reset themselves by dipping all the way down, then flick back up - pretty cool [H]. Like the STACK instruments do in a Lotus or TVR

It's off down the stealers tomorrow with 3 probs:

1) No anti-hijack set, nor lock indicator flash (VAGCOM needed)

2) Handbrake cover (plastic and leather) slides off (clip is broken or something)

3) Both head restraints stuck - can't move up or down (release buttons stuck?)

Gorgeous....lovely spec and the 18s...perfect!

The xenons are cool when they do that but sadly it's not just just a MKV thing!!

The headrests sound like a simple problem on your part - as if they're tricky to do or something.

Handbrake issue is a bit worrying - anything to do with build quality do you reckon?

Well I sort of forgot I had a new car this morning (just woke up etc), and opened my curtains to see this:

UPDATE on WARRANTY bits:

1) no indicators/follow-me home as boot wasn't closed fully - oops [:$] (well its a new car and I didn't want to slam the doors!)

2) Handbrake cover needed pushing in more to click clip into handbrake lever.

3) HEADRESTS ARE DUFF - 2 NEW ONES ON BACKORDER - D'oh (VW speak: "BACKORDER" = we've buggered up a whole batch and can't get enough working replacements)

off down the VRO to change the plates over (and get rid of the cheesey advertising JAM-JAR number plates)
