I cannot sya for sure that it's true, but I can say that the dealer I recently got my GTI from had said to me in January that they had used all of their allocation up for the year, so there could be some truth in it.

I have heard they are limiting them to 6000 this year, anyone know if there's any truth in that?

It may be that some individual dealers have sold their allocation but no way the whole country surely!

If the GTI is so popular VW should build less "lesser" Golfs as there is probably a bigger profit margins in the GTI.

When I spoke to my local dealer befroe christmas when they got their demo in they said that there was no problem getting one for early this year and they would give me a decent discount.

When I went back at the end of feb to get a price for my R32 they said that there was only 6000 gti's this year and they had sold all there allocation until september. Chances of getting such a good discount where slim although they would give me a fair few hundred off but the four figure discount was gone...

It may well be true, Newspress reported that nearly two thirds of this years allocation were sold and that was back in Feb! It wouldnt surprise me if they had all been sold by now for this year. Afterall the hype, and glowing reviews, I am sure the car is selling in bucket loads!

Guys, it sounds from your posts and information i have that it is down to the individual dealer selling their allocation. The reason being I said to my local dealer that i wanted a new car for Sept Reg. He said this wouldn't be a problem, but basically their not doing any discount, although their offering two years 0% finance instead.

Now this is all well and good, but I can't afford to pay for the car over two years, even with my anni as trade in, due to me paying for the other half's new car too. So i was looking for a better deal.

This is when i came across new-car-discount.com they offered me a new 3-door GTI, DSG, Metallic, Lux pack 2, Winter Pack, Parking Sensors, Armrest, Highline comp and Multi wheel with paddles for slightly over ?22k which is a saving of ?1300. Only problem is they said that the allocation had been sold and i would have to wait unitl Jan next year. Which means the dealer they must source the cars from has used all their allocations!

So not sure what to do, although i'm moving more towards better discount for the extra few months???

I am sure I read you can buy them direct from germany dealers for massive discount @ uk spec.

Cant remember where I saw it but it was on this forum. Anyone care to shed any light on this?

- I have to say that I would be tempted on an import, ok it has to be registered as one, but if your keeping the car for 3 years anyway it should not really matter~?

0% finance on a GTI?!?!?!? Thats got to be wrong.

VW are only offering 0% finance on Polo, Passat and Petrol Golfs (not including GTI), basically cause the Polo and Passat are being replaced in the next couple of months and the petrol Golfs are not selling! Almost all orders for MK5 Golf have been for the TDI's.

rob.gti nobody better tell that to my local stealer as I'm getting my GTi on 0% through them. Although my small discount came from a good deal on my trade in I jumped at the stealers offer when they said I could have 0%. Had the cash anyway so putting it in the bank and making around ?1500.

Maxxum - I've seen about 3 GTIs on the road over here, I would ring one of the dealers in Dublin if you're after one.

Irish, I've also seen a few on the roads. I have one on order from Belgard, it was a preorder car which was still specable and a week 18 build.

Thats what I read too - not including the diesel or GTi models.

I'd heard that of the 6000 GTi MkVs that were allocated to the UK, over 2000 of them were bought at the pre-order stage.

i ordered mine in november and am picking it up saturday, long wait, i hope it will be worth it.[:)]
