Hi
everyone... Hope you do not mind someone from across the pond posting here but
I thought I would share my ride. Granted, some of my mods Euro edition parts,
which most likely come stock on your cars, but to us over here they are cool!
[:p]

If you would like to see a complete list of the mods, feel free to click
"The Mods" in my sig below. Please give me a shout if you have
any questions... or would just like to chat about dubs, or the pains of an
Arsenal fan (yes, I have adopted the gunners as my own). In the mean time,
enjoy the pics!

very nice mate, How much is it lowered by ?
Thanks for the kind words! I am not
positive the exact amount it has been lowered from the stock height,
but right now, it's about 1 finger's width gap between fender and tires
on all 4 corners. It's on H&R coils.

Here is a poor quality rolling pic but it gives you a good idea of the actual ride height.

I have a feeling you'll be right at home here mate, it's nice to have a US member join up aswell, it makes a nice change! [Y]

As for the car, it's very tidy indeed, especially under the hood (That's meant to make you feel at home!) [;)]

Has it had a full respray, or do you just clean it like mad, because that is one clean engine bay?? [:O]

Oh, and welcome to the forum aswell! [:D]

Thanks! I'll give a background of the 20th AE in case there are any questions.

First off, Europe was the first to get the wonderfull 25th AE edition
GTI I think in 2001 (please correct me if I'm wrong). The car was such
a success, that they released the same exact car (minus the slightly
different euro-spec bumpers, veleo glass headlights, slightly different
tail lights, left hand vs. right hand drive etc. etc.). When
released in 2002, vwoa (vw of america) called it the
337 GTI as I believe the first Rabbit GTI was codenamed "337"
prior to it's release in the early 80's here in the states. 1500 of
these 337's were made. The 337 was high in demand and the sold out in
what seemed like no time. 2003 was the 20th Anni of the GTI in the
states so considering the success of the 25th anni and the 337, vwoa
decided to do a similar release in the states. The following list to
the best of my knowledge is what is different 20th vs. the
337/25thAE...

Wheels - 20th comes with 18" OZ Aristos. This is what is on my car now.
Stock, they are silver but I got them powdercoated a dark "gunmetal"
colour.

Sunroof/moonroof - The 20th adds a sunroof

Paint - 337/25AE were only offered in my favourite colour, silver. The
20th was offered in 3... Yellow (Imola Yellow), Black (Black Magic
Pearl) and Blue (Jazz Blue). I have the Jazz Blue of course. 4000 total
20th anni's were made. 1000 Yellow, 1000 Blue and 2000 Black. No
respray, I just clean it like mad because I have no life...haha...at
least that is what the wifey says. [:D]

There are some other minor details I'm missing for sure but those are
the major ones. This should provide you all with a wee bit of
background so hopefully it helps!

Cheers!

Wow, nice car - and that ride height is perfect. Is it true that you have *flat* and *smooth* roads over there? [:^)]

Thanks for the explanation of 337 vs 20th AE - we had a prologed
discussion about it on here a while back and I don't think anybody
could give a good answer to what the difference was

Actually the 25th also came in Black (you'd have to ask somebody else to find out which one) and Red which is simply yummy [:D]

Added a better engine pic up top with my first post....

I'll try to answer all the questions... and thanks for the info on
other colours of the 25th! Interior shots as requested. And yes, only
offered as a 3 door.

Dash. I have added the R32 steering wheel, Boost Gauge, Momo shift knob and "euro"
headlight switch, which is stock to you. Everything else is stock.

To answer the last post, I'm sure the roads in some parts here are
good. But, here in the bay area (San Francisco area) the roads are
pretty bad. After driving around London and some of the surrounding
towns, I would consider our roads worse. Sad but true.

And yes, I'm an F1 fan if you couldn't tell. You guys have all of the good sports over there!!! [:D]

That's one sweet-looking interior [Y]

Can you tell us what are those stickers on your two sun visors? They look like some kind of "factory" sticker that you haven't taken off yet. I think they look very cool, make the car look like you've only just driven it out of the dealer's car pa... parking lot [:D] I wouldn't mind some stickers like that to make my car look "new" again [:$]

Ahh... I wish they were just stickers. They are airbag warnings. Looks
like some heat applied sticker. Looks to be impossible to peal off.
Want to trade sun visors?[:D]
