To save my precious Rials, ive been running around on 16" Monty 2 alloys for about 6 weeks now as i do appx 60 miles a day. I was scared stiff of running on the rials daily incase i scuffed them so i decided to get the montys as daily runners and keep the Rials for show use only. I was happy with the montys but then Golfball mentioned he wanted to change his S3 wheels for some monty 2 wheels. After a bit of a chat and dealing we decided to do the swap tonight. I must admit they look superb. Certainly not bad for a daily runner anyway!! Size is 225-45-17 all round. I also run around on a stock non smoothed front bumper for daily use that i picked up for ?15. Lucky too as its the same colour as my Golf!!

I realise why you have swapped the wheels and bumper but can't really see the point of spending money on a car to only have on a few weekends a year! Surely the point of having a nice car is to let everyone see it? It just looks so plain now! [:S]

No, he's looking after his stuff! Mike does a lot of shows and meets. It's the same as having one car as your pride and joy and one for your daily run. I'm presuming Mike has the one car and not 2, so this is his way of compensating.

I'm only presuming, but I totally agree with what he's done.

Like the wheels too! I myself am running my standard Monty II's and the 18's are in the garage.

W36 is so right, and you my freind, well so wrong! I take my dub shows and meets VERY seriously indeed. I paid over ?1600 for my rials wheels for shows, thats how serious i am. And as for everyone seeing it, well yeah they do- looking its best at the shows and meets. And its not just a few weekends a year. There are so many dub shows going on and many many different dub meets going on (not just UKMKIVS you know) all of which i attend most of them wherever in the UK they may be. Im even planning next years trip to Worthersee in my golf. As for my golf looking plain now, er, i dont think so at all. Its lowered appx 55mm, badgeless grille, 17" Audi S3 wheels, tints, smooth rear bumper, debaged, oval exhaust, stubby mirrors, OEM Anni headlights, and hella smoked rear lights, not plain after all huh? cracking set of wheels. gives the golf the (daily-running) stance it deserves!

the montys look ace on my bora too. i will post pics up soon guys.

*sigh* its good to be back on montys........ but give me a few weekends of having to clean the awkward things, and i'll probably want to change again!!!! [;)]

Will you get a decent camera, man! [;)]

Are you getting the doors smoothed?
you lot are just bullying me now over this camera! Ok, when pay day comes i promise to buy one!![:$]

No im not having the doors done for a few reasons: It can be done but my bodyshop say it could go pete tonge a few months down the line. The bump strips serve a good purpose for incosiderate gimps in car parks when opening their doors. And cost, i cant really justify ?1200+ for smoothing and new Audi A3 door handles. Yeah it would look really cool but im not willing to take the risk. If it was to go wrong a few months down the line, or someone was to open their door onto my smooth door and dent it then id be heartbroken and wonder why i went through with it! So im playing it safe. [:)]
