Can't for the life of me find the thread about Mk5 problems, so here's a new one.........[/rant]

The jobs they're looking at today.....

1) New windscreen due to milky lower edge (warranty)

2) Clutch/flywheel making noise like a bag of spanners when hot (Nurburgringer's will vouch!)

3) Still got slight hesitation on light gas pedal at around 2200-2400 rpm

4) Engine warning light and "Defektive" message in instrument display once (on way back from t'ring).....yeah - go figure why it's in Joyman ! (no recorded faults either!)

5) Canbus gateway incorrectly coded (could be causing item 4 ?) - they found this fault themselves

6) Wheel bearing rumble (rear)

7) Driver's carpet mat just worn through already.....13000 miles

Putting it into perspective - none of the above are significant problems and dont really prevent my enjoyment of the car........far from it !

I just hope the issues can be resolved without too much hassle........the flywheel one causes me some concern though.......gearbox out = [:(]

Hmm, one of my rear numberplate lights 'fell out', when I closed to boot, the clip seemed to have broken, was worried it was a due car park collison (when i had left it) but could not find anything. Being repleaced tomorrow.

Not sure if this is a problem, but I can feel the clutch 'tapping' with my foot on the cltuch pedal.

thats not good! How are u gonna hide the facts its been superchipped though? Surely they will blame theflywheel on that!

Oh, and dont mention the 'ring' [;)][:D]
Mmmm my thoughts also, if they investigate the hesitantsy issue do you not run the risk of them uploading a new code? I am very interested in this one as I too have this problem, very slight but there all the same - the issue was present before and after my superchip re-map, I have avoided mentioning it to Audi just in case, keep us informed please Foxy.

OK - Here's the update...............

The work was done at my local dealer - Autohaus of Northampton.
The guys are as good as any mainstream dealer I reckon - they do listen and their people are, for most of the time at least, interested in customer satisfaction.

Haha - yeah, the "chipped" thing was kind of a worry initially, some time ago - but since i've befriended the chief tech, everything is "cool".

I *hinted* at the fact I was gonna get it chipped when they were due to have the car in last time to have the premature service warning corrected - that involved uploading new firmware........but he advised it was for the binnacle only......and any ECU "software" was safe !!!

1) Windscreen - done by a specialist that they called in, using a genuine VW screen.....tidy job with no serious issues - the only 'complaints' being a) they scuffed a screen A-pillar trim which dealer said he'll replace, b) they put a tiny scratch on the rear view mirror - i'll polish out, c) the screen was filthy inside and out.....so I spent 1/2 hour cleaning it...
I moaned at the Tech about the wiper blades and insisted they replace them......new screen must have new wipers!....so he begrudgingly agreed.

2) Flywheel - diagnosed deffo as the dual-mass jobby being faulty.....they've ordered a new one and it'll be replaced in 2 weeks time.

3) Hesitation - no fault found........riiiiiiiiiiight !.......still not happy about this - i'll persue it yet again.

4) Engine warning light......see item 5)

5) Canbus Gateway - they tried to recode it and failed - diagnosed as fubarred !...... they've ordered a new one and it'll be replaced in 2 weeks time.

6) Wheel bearing rumble (rear).......road test diagnosed as probably the "modified" wheel / tyre combination.....riiiiiiight !.......they advise I try the original wheels / tyres back onto eliminate.......why the fook can't THEY do that?.....oh, and these aren't mickey-mouse wheels/tyres.....OEM Votex rims with Goodyear F1's !!!!!

7) Driver's carpet mat just worn through already.....13000 miles......said that the wear was concurrent with the miles done....not seriously worn out........riiiiiiiiiiight!........I was sure these things had 20,000 mile / 12 month warranty?

All-in-all, it was a fair result with the exception of what i still believe to be a hesitation problem and a wheel bearing on it's way out.......

...........And as for the Nurburgring.........

...........The Service guy stepped out and showed me back to my car....and was mightily interested about it.......asked me if the zorst was a Gti OEM or a Miltek !......then saw the 'Ring sticker and proceeded to ask me all about that too !............finally asking me if the car was "Chipped".......to which I replied "No comment"......which provoked him to assume "AMD".......pah!.....I soon put him right on that front !......nice for these people to take interest.

Hi Foxy,

My 2.0tdi has the same symptoms at the 2200-2500 rpm it doesn't seem to do it all the time I thought it may be my imagination. When it does happen it feels like a momentary complete loss of fuel, similar to faulty points on a petrol car it doesn't feel like an individual cylinder miss. Keep us posted and I will chase up the dealers here.[ip]

Hi Foxy. What were the symptoms of the dual mass flywheel problems?

I've noticed the clutch on mine has started to judder a bit and generally feels "unbalanced"? It also seems noisier but I might just be imagining that!

Ta!

Hi Iain

The symptoms were: metallic noise (like very bad tappet noise) only when extra-hot. Otherwise no noise.....and either way, no vibration out of the ordinary.

Hi Guys

Some probs with my Mk5 GT TDi 140

1) noisy clutch (I knew it was noisy but only just realised it's the clutch after reading this thread)

2) Steering wheel not on straight and excessive front tyre wear. 20k and they're knackered

3) Climate control is too hot when the weather is warm and too cold when its cold. Set to 22

4) lights come on all the time especially when it's sunny (and I'm not driving fast)

anybody having the same probs?

On a brighter note it's still a fantastic drive.[:D]
