OK, was thinking of slapping some bigger and better looking wheels on the MK5 and was seriously considering the Phaeton Helios. However, this has been done by the Belgian guy (villie) and I really wanted it to be individual. So, on to the latest idea (and after a tip off from a friend!)

How about putting Lamborghini Gallardo wheels onto the car!?!? Don't think this has ever been done before (prob. due to cost as approx ?1k per corner with tyres!!) so it would certainally be individual.

I believe they will go straight on. Specs of wheels are as follows:

Front rim size : 8.5 x 19 inch

Rear rim size : 11x19 inch

Fron tyre size : 235/35 ZR 19

Rear tyre size : 295/30 ZR 19

Supplied tyres : Pirelli P ZERO 'ROSSO' with asymmetric unidirectional tread

That rear wheel width worries me though! I guess there is nothing stopping me just putting the front wheels on the back too??

If I am going to do things then I may as well do them right and I will no doubt need to sort the suspension so it does not look like a monster truck and also will probably put the votex bodykit on it as I just love it!

Here is a photochop (very amateur - used Villie's car) of potentially what it would look like. Colours not quite right as it looks very dull but it gives you the idea.

Hopefully you can see it (have problems putting up pictures through imagestation)

It would also be nice to get the lambo brakes behind there too - it would make a nice change from the Porsche set-up.

And the beauty would be the fact that it is still all OEM!!

So what do you think??

I am worried about the ride quality though. It will need very low profile tyres as the 16" wheels I have now are 205/55/16 so who knows what tyres i will need if I did it. I do a few miles so it needs to retain comfort and handling - I just can't see that happening with 19" wheels - unless somebody proves me wrong

Not sure I like 19 inch alloys I think they are a bit OTT in my opinion.

I like the body kit on that car is it the standard VW one.

I was thinking of getting after market springs. The standard sports suspension lowers the car by 15mm. I'll hang on till I get the VW body kit and see how it looks then. Will put up a some piccies of before and after and let u all be the judge [)]

I have noticed the suspension already seems to have dropped a little from new and anyway the car handles like a dream now so it would only be cosmetic.

Yeah, i am really impressed with the way my car handles now and it is only on the standard 16" wheels and GT suspension. I do not want to loose this good combination of handling and comfort and I am worried that is what will happen with the 19" wheels.

But they just look so good.......

They are superb, would certainly look individual. You would need tyres in size 235/35/19 these would give you a tyre wall height of approximate 3.23 inches, your current tyres 205/55/16 have a tyre wall height of 4.44 so thats 1.21 inches difference. It would make a difference to the handling but whats 1.21 inches between friends!
