Happy days, my new GTI has arrived at the dealers [:D]

Took some photos but they are a bit crap as I only had the Phone Camera. The car is still dirty and covered in bits of foam and stickers

One of the alloys is marked but they said they can repair it as it is only a light scratch. I think it should be OK., if not I'll insist on a new one.

Hopefully going to pick it up next week.

Mine has DSG and has a completely different lower grill from all the other cars I have seen. There are only two holes on each side. You can just make it out on the 2nd Pic. I think they make it up as they go along !!

Thanks for the comments, will get some better pictures when I pick it up, which is hopefully next thursday.

Still argueing about the damage to the alloy wheel which they have sent off somewhere to get repaired.

Told them I would not be happy buying a ?20k car with a refurbished wheel.

We shall see when they open up again after the bank holiday.

There are no spare wheels so a repair or no wheel at all are the only options you have.
Yea I was aware there was a shortage of 18's, so I have initially told
them that I would be happy to drive on the present wheel and then get a
replacement whenever they can get one. We will see on Tuesday.

I think once you get the alloy back and see that there is no evidence of a repair you will probably just forget it.  The only proviso i would suggest is that the repair is warranted with the car so if there are any problems in the future its down to the dealer.

Yea, I think you're probably right Mark, the mark on the wheel was so
small I didn't notice it until the salesman pointed it out even though
I had looked at each wheel before he came out. They said they have
claimed for a new wheel from whoever the insurance company is who
covers the car during transit. The insurance company has asked if the
wheel can be repaired to save them the expense of a new one.

Just really looking forward to getting the car, have to wait for my
cherished transfer to go through so it will probably be Thursday night.
It is going to be a long week, can't see much being done at work.

Result from the dealer, they are going to order a new wheel, should be 3 or 4 weeks. Meanwhile I can have the car tomorrow night with the damaged wheel until mine arrives [:D][:D][:D][:D].

This is a different Dealer that I used before and I must say so far I am very impressed with their service.

It's going to be a sleepless night. []

One of you two has got my car!! Build date of week 16 but dealer phones yesterday to say it was waiting for a boat. Would seem a bit strange that they didn't put our cars through together, mines Red, 18", DSG + paddles, leather, armrest and winter pack so got most of the same things. Am trying to pretend I'm not still waiting but I go on holiday on the 22nd and with my luck it will arrive on the 21st.

What option do you reckon on if that happens;

Leave it at the dealers?

Leave it on the drive at home?

Mine was build week 15, got the boat on 22nd April and reached the Dealer on 29th. That was to NI so probably took an extra day.

I would have thought you should have it end of next week or start of the week after.
