I was on my way to work this morning, going down the motorway @ about
90mph when all of a sudden there was a loud bang followed by sh*t loads
of smoke from the exhaust. The car started juddering so I pulled over
to see if I could see anything, which I couldn't.

I don't know much about cars, but i'm pretty sure its the exhaust
manifold, it took about 3/4 of an hour to drive back home as the car
wouldn't go over 40mph[:'(][:'(].

So it looks like it could be an expensive weekend, plus I lost a days overtime money[:'(]

Err, it will be the turbo or something more serious. If an exhaust manifold blows, it just makes a noise! Only other thing to cause such smoke wiuld be an oil leak on the exhuast, but if you heard a bang, odds are the turbo.

What year and engine type is your car? I have a K03 in the garage!

We had the smae thing happen to a tdi 130 a few months back! Was not a pretty site, costly too!

But tbh this could be the perfect oppurtunity to get a bigger turbo, it may only be the extra cost of the turbo as there already having to fit a new one.

If it is your turbo that has gone boom?

Good luck mate.

Mines a 115 PD.

After thinking about it I guessed it would be the turbo, there's no power whatsoever.

Thanks for the links Tom, nice turbo but its everything else that goes
with it, i'd need a bigger intercooler, my insurance would go up, plus
i'd need another re-map, only had it Upsoluted a few weeks ago.

I don't suppose the re-map done it much good, it couldn't cope with it.

Think i'll just get a turbo from somewhere then get it fixed and sell
it on. I'm gutted though, its my pride and joy and i've always kept it
mint[:'(][:'(].

Why sell? Turbos are mechanical and sometimes a bad one can slip through the manufactoring process. Least with a new turbo YOU will know it is right and YOU can let it cool down after a run. The car may have been not looked after before you had it. Unless you are the only owner. Things go wrong with cars i do not think you should sell because the turbo has gone pop.[8-|]

I've had the car for over 4 years now, & it had one lady owner before me. TBH I have been looking for an excuse to get a new car and this looks like this may help. Things do go wrong with cars and I consider myself lucky, this is the only thing thats gone wrong since owning it.[;)]
