Right, have been a member on here since the early days and have never
actually put up and photo's of my car, so following on from some peer pressure
from a few people in the 'car of the year' thread (Cheers guys!), thought I
should get my act together and get some pictures up.

I've owned the car for slightly over 3 years now and it has seen various stages in development.

The car in standard form 3 years ago, only mod was a 'turbo' badge from golfturbo:

The car with its first set of 18" wheels, these didn't stay long though as I decided they weren't very OEM looking:

hi

what kind of power you putting out .also how much was your intercooler . thanks
Was last dyno's at 243 uncorrected flywheel bhp and 229 lbft. Is a bit
down on what it should be as the peak boost was only 0.9bar peak and
peak should really be 1.4bar, suspect the actuator spring has gone, so
will see.

The intercooler is actually for a Skoda Octavia, more info can be found here:

This car is really really nice and fast too. It will be interesting to see how much bhps it will put out with the new actuator.

Shame some tea leaf knicked your rabbit badge though [:(]

This has to be the car of the year [:D]

Nice to see some larger pics, having only seen what's in your sig. There's certainly been a lot of work gone into that car!

Surprisingly enough, I didn't think the RBBRs would look good on a
silver car, but I think I've just changed my mind - they looks
especially good with the dark tints

Cameron, that looks superb, every bit as good as I was expecting.

Your FMIC looks great inside an R32 front bumper, so much more of the core is now open.

Also, your 3" DP and decat - how good is that!!!!

Im beginning to think I need one, how much would something like that cost?

Thanks for the comments Gary. Yup the R32 bumper is great for clearance, was needed when I had my old FMIC on.

Have to say I really like the 3" downpipe and decat, I origionally had
the 2.5" Milltek hi-flow 'ultra' downpipe + cat like yourself, and did
notice a slight difference when I changed. Certainally on
vwvortex its been proven that a larger expansion area after the turbo
is of great benefit. Also the good thing is that when at idle and
cruising the noise inside the car hasn't increased, but when on boost
the noise is quite different! The exhaust bark now sounds a bit
like an evo or something, is great, but not chavy!

I may have to look into this though is there a chance I would lose
torque or will it just flatten the curve even more due to a more free
flowing exhaust?

It could be worth me contacting Blueflame to see what they can do
though last year they told me they used 2.5" and not 3" pipe, things
could have changed now though.

Then get my map modified to ignore the post cat lambda sensor.

Was there much cutting involved when fitting the Forge IC or had you already done that with your previous core.

I forgot to say in my last post that the downpipe cost me ?150 fitted.

You wont loose any torque as turbocharged engines work at their most
efficient without any exhaust as the turbo creates the necessary back
pressure. A lot of people think they've lost some midrange torque
when they go down this route because, with the more free flowing
exhaust, the turbo will spool up a bit quicker and more smoothly,
eliminating the slight surge you would normally get where there would
be slightly more lag with the smaller exhaust. The recent dyno
run I did was with this new downpipe and with that peak power is made
at the red line, bit like an n/a multi-valve engine, so it shows it is
of benefit in the higher rpm where theres the larger gas volume
passing. That was
part of the reason for me getting a custom fabricated downpipe, as I
couldn't find anyone that made a 3" version with decat.

There was quite a bit of cutting of the bumper bar with the Forge, as
I'm sure Kevin will have prob said when he did yours, so a bit of time
was spent with the angle grinder! The main problem I experienced
when fitting was having to hollow out the driver side part of the
bumper bar, so the core outlet hose could pass through, was a bit of a
nightmare! My old FMIC hung off the bumper bar, so it didn't
require cutting to fit.
