Greenlight (01277 263030) do specific modified car policys (I have two policies with them) I've always found them to be good. Basically suspension and brakes add nothing to the premium or they didn't with me.

If you speak to Neil and tell him your from uk-mkivs you may even get a discount.

I'm with admiral, no mods though!

Use to be with Elephant, who are the same company, and they didnt like my mods! Perhaps it was cos I had one years NCB and only 19 then! They charged me £55 for my suspension for 6months remaining and £15 for an exhaust, which i never fitted and they got arsey about! When my renewal came through it had gone up about £200 from the previous year!

I think its mainly age dependant! You can always ask them for a quote on the extra!

ppl like Liverpool Victoria are a modders insurer, so do decent policys like this, not sure what their cover is like! Was with HIC who liked my mods, but when i went to cancel the policy after 4 months it was a nightmare, not very helpful etc! Thats why i'm now with a big company!

hope this is of some use!

I to am with green light thru Neil.had no problems with them and got a large discount from being on the uk-mkivs,none of my mods have cost me any more eg brakes, alloys and stuff, but was 100 pounds more for it to be chipped.which isnt bad compared to most over companies.

I am insured with elephant at the moment (part of admiral) my renewal came in at £1052 or something! (1.8t chipped, 18's, coilovers) I'm 26 with 5yrs no claims and the standard car would have been around like £700!!

Got a very good quote from HIC.......£683 including track cover

[?]seems to be a little confusing, i spoke to Liverpool Victoria today and yesterday and both operators told me any 10 mods are allowed even chipping so long as you don't increase CC, even stated no need to inform just keep receipts and photos in case of a claim. I am switching to them next week as Sainsburys refused to cover a miltek cat back.

Got a mate who is with elephant (part of admiral), he just got 17's put on his car, cost him an extra 6 quid on his insruance (23 with 2 years no claims) although the premium was increased, the alloys are not actually covered, its just a charge because the car is more likely to be stolen then. Rediculous if you ask me...

It's ok to moan about ins companies and their charges. but they use statistics and only statistics....with the size of the business there's no other way. If their stats say one thing they'd be foolish to do another.

Mind you, you do end up pulling your hair out sometimes!

[^]Thanks all for your comments, have now taken policy with L&V they re-confirmed any modifications allowed even chipping which i declared at no extra cost so long as no increase in CC, keep receipts and Photos in the event of a claim. Premium was a little more expensive but worth it for peace of mind. So miltek goes on this Saturday..

jd8123,

im with Adrian flux & wont be going back next year.. im 24 with 6 years no claims & they wont insure me if I chip my car. I changed my alloys from my Montreal II's to Santa monica's & they charged me £15 admin Fee. If these got stolen or had to be replaced they would only replace them with Montreal II's & not santa monicas.

I think I may try L&V or Greenlight next time.
