When i'm cruising on the motorway (not using cruise control though!), and the car's at about 2200-2600 rpm, ish, on a very light throttle.......

........the engine kind of stutters ever so slightly as I move the throttle again.

Has anyone else noticed this or is it just mine?

i think i know what you mean its almost like a flat spot for a split second and then it picks up, thought it was just me being hesitant with my right foot lol

funny u say that jon ..mypd150(mk iv) does this jutter or how u describe it @ 2100rpm like a little jolt then after its fine ?2050rpm nothing..2150rpm nothing 2100rpm ..jolt? flat spot?dunno myself ?

All the vag TDi's seem to do this, on the 150PD its at around 2200rpm.

Can't say I have noticed it with this new golf but my anni. pd 150 had similar fault!

Not noticed this on the Mk5 GT TDi but yes on my Tdi 115 if you were cruising at a similar throttle position for a protracted length of time and then suddenly accelerate there would be a hesitation. I would not go as far as calling it a stutter.

I was speaking to a MK5 GT TDI 140 bhp owner last weekend at my local Audi dealer and he was part-exing his for an A3, precisely because of this problem irrating him so much. The car was a 2004 04 reg.

correct me if im wrong, but since this new engine has been introduced has it not been increased in power only slightly i.e from 136 bhp to 140 bhp or something like that, could it be that the problem lies with one variant and not the other....just a thought[?]

Mine doesn't and neither does our passat.

My A3 TDI did it, and it was one of the reasons why we gave it back to Audi [!]

Are we talking turbo lag more a less? Cause mine will take a second to kick in properly too but it doesn't feel like anything unusual?

No matey, it's more like a brief shudder or equivalent to misfire feeling.....only VERY brief

Mine same mate. Just a quick judder sometimes does it when pull away from lights. Its like you catch the brake pedal and it judders if you know wot i mean. Vw cant fix it theyve had it for 3 wks and still same. Ive even tried two chips and air filter and still no joy. Let me know if you sort it cheers

My Touran does this but not on cruise in those rpms.
