Kind folk, I'm doing some research on "real life" mpg figures, and wondered if you'd participate please.........

I'm looking for feedback from owners the following cars......and the more the merrier to help with "averaging"........

Golf Mk5 (3 or 5 door)

1) GT TDi PD140 manual

2) GT TDi PD140 manual (chipped)

3) GT TDi PD140 DSG

4) GT TDi PD140 DSG (chipped)

5) GT TDi PD140 4-motion

6) GT TDi PD140 4-motion (chipped)

7) GTi manual

8) GTi manual (chipped)

9) GTi DSG

10) GTi DSG (chipped)

When you post, please list the following;-

Your car spce (from the above options),
the brand of "chipped" software (where applicable), and the wheel size you're running (e.g. 17" )

Please list the approx. figures for types of journeys, but must be at least 20 miles (unless stated);-

a) Your best ever average mpg for a journey (at least10 miles)
b) Your worst ever average mpg for a journey (at least 10 miles)
c) Your average mpg for a journey with mostly motorways (say 75-80mph ave)
d) Your average mpg for a journey with some clear A-roads and some crawling town traffic
e) Your average mpg for a cross-country "dash" on the twisty-turnies - max 6/10's full chat
f) Your long-term average mpg ( MFA trip setting 2) - must be at least 2000 miles old.

I'll put the figures into the magic box of tricks and post the results as they develop........

a) Your best ever average mpg for a journey (at least10 miles) 50mpg
b) Your worst ever average mpg for a journey (at least 10 miles) 19mpg
c) Your average mpg for a journey with mostly motorways (say 75-80mph ave) 42-46mpg
d) Your average mpg for a journey with some clear A-roads and some crawling town traffic 38-40mpg
e) Your average mpg for a cross-country "dash" on the twisty-turnies - max 6/10's full chat 32-36mpg
f) Your long-term average mpg ( MFA trip setting 2) - must be at least 2000 miles old. 42mpg

Dammit! My car seriously drinks at 80 compared to you lot!! Seems the 18's make ALOT of difference.
