Hmmm went along to a VW dealer today to test drive a GT TDI.

Got offered a very, very good deal against mine... A straight swap against a Brand new GT TDI with Leather, Xenons, Cruise, Winter Pack, Armrest and CD Player and Metalic Paint. Total came to well over 21k.

Question is do I do it [?]

Delivery would be two months and as they want my car now they've offered me the choice of either a Bora or Passat to pootle about in until the new car is delivered [:D]

Go for it [:D] You know you want to. The handling is easily the best part of the Mk5. I had a bit of fun around some local B roads tonight on the way back from work in the rain, and even with the standard 16's/tyres I'm suprised; It just holds - think about how much it'd grip with a set of 18's and some Eagle F1 GSD3's!

There's a lot of potential engine wise. A remap and Milltek setup would probably take the car to 300-350lb/ft torque [:O] And around the 200bhp.

What colour are you thinking about getting?

Basically these three options overlap:

Leather Option

Winter Pack

Xenon Headlights

I've taken the following info from UKNewCars website..

Winter pack - 272.34

Winter pack (when ordered with leather upholstery and xenon headlights) - 170.21

Winter pack (when ordered with leather upholstery) - 187.23

Winter pack (when ordered with xenon headlights) - 255.32

While the heated seats don't come as standard, if you spec leather or/and xenons, the remaining part of winter pack (the heated seats) becomes cheaper.

Tabs, if your not in a rush to change yours, you could always wait till just after Easter next year, when the 4Motion TDI's will be coming out. Also the GTI 'Diesel' (160bhp 2.0TDI) should be coming out next summer.

Of course they will cost more, and your car will loose value between now and then, so you'll have to pay more.

I've been offered the Audi A3 2.0 TDi Quattro which becomes available this month for ?20,089OTR - I'd be tempted to go for that now than wait for the 4Motion option on the MK5...

Going to try another Audi Dealership and see what I can muster on that front.
